 | Forum Thread | Delap can't head the ball at 14:10 11 May 2025
Liam Delap's goals for ITFC have not been headers. And when the ball is booted up to him he rarely wins heading duels. Unlike our great centre forwards such as Ray Crawford and Paul Mariner, Delap's striking skills are seriously incomplete. |
 | Forum Thread | Woolfy never passed to Philogene at 10:02 16 Mar 2025
Yesterday Woolfy must have had the ball at his feet over 20 times but ALWAYS passed left looking for Davis. Philogene was free on the right unmarked for the whole first half yet Woolfy did not pass to him once. All this criticism of Philogene is unfair if the team won't pass to him! |
 | Forum Thread | Sir Alf's team V Liverpool. 21 January 1961 at 10:25 25 Jan 2025
The Town team took an early train from Ipswich and arrived at Lime Street station in Liverpool. Alf didn't know how to get to the ground. He then saw a bus with "Anfield" on the front. So the whole team got on the bus with their duffle bags. Ted Phillips scored for Town and it was 1-1. That will do today. |
 | Forum Thread | Chelsea game just like Spurs! at 09:17 31 Dec 2024
We went 2 0 up and played a great defending game. We know how to play the"big" teams. |
 | Forum Thread | Town defence now doing rather well! at 11:47 6 Dec 2024
In the last five games the Town defence has only let in one goal in each game. This is a really positive improvement - especially after the West Ham and Brentford games. In particular, Muric has now settled in well. What we have to do now is build on our solid defence and score a few goals. Maybe Leif can get up the wing a bit more and we should try Johnson on the right wing again (he was good against Spurs). So it is not all doom and gloom! |
 | Forum Reply | Heavy demand for Chelsea? at 10:52 25 Nov 2024
So many Chelsea fans have signed up to be Members for one match! This is the reason for the debacle with the tickets and website this morning. there were also many Man U fans in our seats yesterday. The Club should change the system and give priority to Town fans who have a record of going to many games. Otherwise this is just a farce. |
 | Forum Reply | Man United memories thread at 18:19 22 Nov 2024
1961: Ipswich 4 Man Utd 1. Ray 2, Ted 1, John Ellsworthy 1. Gaskell in goal for Man U famously pulled his shorts down in front of the North Stand. At Alf Ramsey's Memorial Service in Ipswich, Bobby Charlton said that Man U had the ball 80% of the time and Ipswich still won 4 1. He couldn't believe it! And nor could we. What a season! |
 | Forum Thread | Ben Johnson at 18:15 10 Nov 2024
Another excellent performance from Ben Johnson today. On the right of midfield and kept an eye on Son. Good tactic Keiron! |
 | Forum Reply | How loud was the PA today!!? at 09:34 2 Oct 2024
Sort this out Town. The PA is much too loud and is bringing the club into disrepute! |
 | Forum Reply | Where does Morsy rank at 17:19 25 Sep 2024
It was amazing how many key goals Mick Mills scored for Town - Liverpool in the cup, the Semi final V West Brom, and Real Madrid in the UEFA Cup. And he was Captain of England in the 1982 World Cup. And don't forget Morsy's goal away at Milton Keynes that started our great winning run out of League 1. In our best ever team that won the League in 1962, Andy Nelson was the captain but there were some other very influential players - John Elsworthy, Ray Crawford and Billy Baxter as examples. But it was Billy Baxter who was the rock in our defence that got us back into the top division in 1968, so he would get my vote as the Town's top captain, with Mills second and Morsy third. |
 | Forum Thread | Leif Davis - left winger? at 14:08 22 Aug 2024
Leif has been fantastic for Town over the last two seasons. But he struggles in defensive situations against tricky wingers (eg last season away at Leeds and last Saturday V Mo Salah). Why don't we try him as a left winger? Remember Gareth Bale started as a left back for Spurs (when they never won), they then moved him to left wing, and then he became one of the best strikers in the world. Now we have signed Conor Townsend, we can give him a game at left back and let's try Leif on the left wing. |
 | Forum Reply | ballot news? at 14:18 25 Jul 2024
My family had 4 individual submissions for the ballot. No emails from club so we assume not successful for all 4. Are the odds that low for the ballot? And we went to all home games last season. |
 | Forum Reply | 1500-1 at 19:41 28 May 2024
After 1961-2 anything can happen. Many of our team then had come up from League Div 3. And we had a great manager as we do now. Many similarities. Worth a tenner at 1500 to 1! |
 | Forum Reply | While we're raiding chelsea yoof team for hutch... at 11:10 3 May 2024
Chalobah played midfield for us and he was pretty useless. Certainly not one of the best loanees we have had. But Chelsea has turned him into a centre half which seems to be his natural position. |
 | Forum Reply | Blackburn 1968 at 15:28 1 May 2024
We were already promoted because of our goal difference by the time of the Blackburn game in 1968. We just needed a point to win the 2nd league and Ray Crawford, as usual, did the business. I bumped into the ref after the game at Ipswich Station and he said "it was a dozy match". But never forget Billy Baxter RIP. He was club captain and the rock in our defence. He and Ray were the only survivors in 1968 of our incredible team which won the top league in 1962 under Sir Alf. |
 | Forum Thread | Al-Hamedi changed the game! at 08:55 2 Apr 2024
Southampton were very much in control and then Ali Al-Hamedi hit the post after a skilful play. The Town and the crowd suddenly thought " Hey. We can win this." And how we did win it! |
