Al-Hamedi changed the game!
at 08:55 2 Apr 2024

Southampton were very much in control and then Ali Al-Hamedi hit the post after a skilful play. The Town and the crowd suddenly thought
" Hey. We can win this." And how we did win it!

Still 10 points ahead of Leeds. Would have taken that at the start of the day.

Town immense tonight
at 22:44 12 Dec 2023

Was at the match and Town were immense. One of our great away wins. We dominated the first half, great goal from Morsy and, above all, we completely controlled the last 14 minutes when Watford hardly touched the ball. And Town fans gave fantastic support throughout the game. At the ground it was very wet, but it was a different game to what some are saying who watched it on TV.

Hutchinson
at 08:57 12 Nov 2023

A fine part of Hutchinson's game is his tracking back to help cover the full back. After he was subbed, Swansea's left winger ran riot. He scored one and nearly got another. Burns was playing high up the field and left us exposed. McKenna needs to think about that.

Everything is great on match day except the tannoy. It is so loud it is painful! Please, please turn it down!

Our greatest teams
at 09:20 27 Apr 2023

The four terrific January acquisitions McKenna made brings back memories of the arrival of John O'Rourke and Peter Morris in 1968 that pushed us to promotion.

Also, a great team stays the same and has no injuries. That has happened to us in the last ten games.

The Town's greatest ever team was the one that won the League in 1962 (Bailey, Carberry, Compton, Baxter, Nelson, Ellsworthy, Stephenson, Moran, Crawford, Phillips, Leadbetter) that hardly changed in that wonderful season.

When we win the Championship next season, perhaps Walton, Clarke, Burgess, Woolfenden, Davis, Morsy, Luongo, Burns, Broadhead, Hirst, Chaplin will rival our greatest ever team!

And a very good goal.

But Keogh right off the pace in 1 on 1.

Is not Thérèse Coffey the key here? She is MP for Suffolk Coastal and in the Cabinet as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. She is a life-long Liverpool fan and was responsible for getting Kenny Dalglish his knighthood. Support from her could make the difference.

Most promising Town player who didn't make it...

Kevin O'Callaghan. Could have won us the league in 1981 and 82 but promise not fulfilled.

In all the home games we have shown some spirit especially in second halves. But we are not yet scoring enough goals. It may yet click.

Grealish overrated

He could only kick with his right foot. Villa gave him the ball everyone and he just ran across the pitch going nowhere with no threat at all. Not worth all those millions.

John Wark's first game in midfield for Town
at 17:10 15 Aug 2018

In October 1976 I went to Upton Park to see the Town play West Ham. It was the first game John Wark played midfield for us (his small number of previous appearances were at centre back). We won 2-0 with both goals from a brilliant Clive Woods.

But John Wark had a really poor game. As we walked back from the game I said to my brother that I couldn't see John Wark playing midfield for the Town again. How wrong I was - he got 10 goals that season and so many more afterwards.

So let's have patience with the new team....

Skuse vs Chalobah
at 18:14 4 Aug 2018

Don't agree about Chalobah. He wanted the ball all the time, often got caught in possession and kept passing it back not forward. But Skuse is not an attacking midfielder either. So not a great day in midfield for Town.

Assistant manager in Bordeaux. Will bring back the passion the Town needs.
