Two stand out - Butcher because it was the final nail after relegation in 86 and Atkinson. The manner was a bit messy but the fee 450k still annoys me. |

Exactly this. I expected us to lose /have a slow start to the season. Why? 45 years of watching football. I'm no expert but time and again you rarely see relegated teams hit the ground running. Two years ago Brum beat Leeds 1-0. Look how that season ended up.
Games at the start of the season are a great leveller.
As KMc said it's a short turnaround from EPL to Champ we've lost some of our spine and have several injuries. And in losing Morsy we've lost a big, big player for us. So it'll take time. But knowing KMc and the talent we have once we start to get a little bit of confidence and start getting into our groove I've no doubt we will be up there. Just how long will determine auto or play-offs.. |

I thought we’d lose tonight mainly because early season is a great leveller they’ve lots of confidence and we are still licking our wounds. I’ll take the point and hopefully this is the little nudge to get momentum going. The Champ is so tight that Brum have it in them to be up there. What I question is when they don’t get things their own way and say go a few winless games how will Wagner handle it and as you say Davies too.
Good point but much more to come from us. |

5th/6th I was more confident 2 years ago when we first went up. KMc is at the point where he needs to overhaul the team( I think it was Cloughie who said you need to change your team every 4 years).
That means time to gel and plenty of draws due to the dreaded low block. I hope I’m wrong and we storm it but can’t see it. |

I’m more reserved on it and less confident than I was after promotion to Champ. KMc has to form a new squad and deal with more expectation. In L1 we saw it wasn’t easy being a big gun and it won’t be different in Champ although the quality in the Champ compared to EPL looks night and day. As long as we get that spine sorted in summer we’ll be ok but if we don’t replace Delap then I think it could be a rocky few months. |

I've been on since 98 just before the world cup and I remember my first comment was about Kieran Dyer should be in the England WC squad. I was formerly sandy_itfc until about 10 years. I'm hoping at some point that Phil and Gav will change to These Are The Days for a
spell again. |

I think secretly KMc will be happy with the way we played and it was like the game against Leeds where bursts of quality undid us. We’ll learn from it no doubt and one thing for sure the squad will be better by the end of the season.
We’ll stay up and will have a 3 way split between losses draws and wins. 49-50 points this year. |
