I literally just got back from there after going to a mate's stag do (we were on the French side of the border, not insane enough to spend Geneva prices on a few nights on the booze). If I was there another night I'd have joined you. A fair few of the guys from the stag are in and around Geneva. Not Ipswich fans, but they definitely want us to go up (I checked), so I'll give them the info if they fancy watching it. Like myself they might be a little worse for wear though! |

Thanks for the tips! I’ve had a pretty good record with these games so let’s hope it keeps up. |

Hi all, regular lurker but so rarely post that I might as well be a newbie. I’m down from Scotland for the Derby match tomorrow with a Derby-supporting mate. Before Covid and back when we were in the same division we’d always go to the home and away fixtures together, so it’s nice to have them back at our level. He’ll be in the home end with me, but he’s a good lad so if you spot him, be kind ;) But anyway, since this is the first time I’ve been down for a game since moving back up to Scotland, and with the train strikes and (justified) fear of rescheduling due to Sky and all, I’m staying in Ipswich on Saturday and some of Sunday with not much to do. So if you guys have any suggestions (I don’t have a car with me, it’s parked at Gatwick) on what to do on a Saturday, somewhere good to watch the football, go for some lunch, that kind of thing, then any tips would be much appreciated! Haven’t spent more than an afternoon/evening in town since I was about 3 years old! |

The only Millwall fan I ever had any aggro off was a guy I met in a pub who tried to start a fight with me and my mate when we suggested Michael Owen was a better player than Barry Hayles.. |

Ah yes, I always forget about the Yellow House, always think it's just a restaurant, good shout. As you say, the 'spoons isn't great but there's not a lot else round there unless you go another 10 minutes walk to the docks. I wouldn't worry too much about the Millwall fans on the way to the ground, I've always walked to and from the ground that way (lived in Rotherhithe on and off for years) and never seen any trouble, even wearing colours. Only trouble I had was from a security guard who wouldn't accept I was a local when I tried to leave on foot a few years ago, almost ended up being shepherded onto a train to London Bridge, which would've been a bit of a long way round to get home... |

You'll get some funny looks from the locals... ...it's 23 degrees outside. |

Nothing to recommend near South Bermondsey, unless you wanna buy some tins from the offy and get drunk in a Screwfix car park. Best bet is probably to head back towards Surrey Quays and go to the 'spoons I'd say. There are a couple of pubs around Southwark Park Road too, but haven't been down that way for a couple of years and they used to be dodgy as hell... |
