Ipswich Town 2-1 Charlton Athletic - Match Report
at 22:09:50

Good to see Muric doing well. He’s still young for a keeper and I think there’s a top player in there somewhere…

Blau-Weiß Linz 1-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report
at 12:44:06

Harry Clarke at RWB could be a great option this year - always thought RB in a four wasn’t a great position for him as it didn’t allow him much attacking license with Leif pushing high on the other side. Proper back three with Leif/Townsend and Clarke/Ogbene/Burns providing overlapping width from wing back could be a really exciting option this year. Also think that’s a formation that would transition better into the premier league if we were to go up again - back four with fullbacks pushing up is just too exposed at the top level, and no point playing Leif if he can’t push on.

Brentford Make £35m Bid But Fail to Meet Terms Ahead of Release Clause Deadline
at 10:14:56

I hope you’re just trolling ArnieM…but in case you’re not:

- we’d have never convinced Delap to sign without a release clause, and 10m profit after one season is excellent business
- Axel and Burgess wanted to go and Axel was at least as flaky as Philogene fitness wise
- Morsy has been offered life changing money for his family at 34, would you stand in his way?
- we’ve signed a great replacement for Morsy and are in for two more great options, reportedly
- Omari isn’t “walking away” we’re being offered lots of money and turning it down, and there’s been no indication whatsoever that he’s pushing for a move
- Philogene got 12 goals and 6 assists in his last season in the championship including a Puskas award nomination. He came to us mid-season having never played prem before and after being on the bench for half a season - what was he supposed to do?

Only three years ago we were gearing up for another season in league one, now you’re complaining that we might only get 40m for a player and saying he should show loyalty and stay. The sense of entitlement is mind blowing…

Brentford Make £35m Bid But Fail to Meet Terms Ahead of Release Clause Deadline
at 09:52:43

We have Clarke, Philogene, Szmodics, Ogbene, Broadhead and Chaplin for the start of the season, with Johnson another option and Burns coming back later. We’re in a great position where we don’t need to sell by any means, but we’ll be fine even if they offer silly money and we take it. I’d love him to stay, but 40m+ to invest back into an already strong team would be great. Our budget issue clearly isn’t availability of money, it’s PSR and with 40m+ coming in that would give us enormous spending power to invest back into the midfield and a new striker. So this is a win either way in my view, and good on MA for making sure the release clause didn’t allow drip feed payments.

Derby Linked With Skipper Morsy

Don’t see it happening. Can’t imagine they’ll be offering enough to make it worth losing his experience and presence in the dressing room, even if he isn’t starting every week.

Davis: I Felt Like I Let My Teammates Down
at 08:42:21

I think Arteta summed it up very fairly - it was a nasty tackle that deserved a red but clearly no malice in it. Luckily didn’t cost us anything as the season was long done, he’ll learn from it and come back better. Gutted for him that he didn’t get to play at SJP though.

Next season hopefully we will have a stronger midfield that can protect the defence better and he can get back to bombing down the wing, without leaving us so exposed at the back. Such a good attacking player, but with our lack of mobility in midfield it did leave us wide open a lot this year.

Wolves Striker Cunha Could Face Extended Ban Following FA Cup Red Card
at 14:48:12

@DannyITFC - just FYI apparently the FA have said that the earlier ban does not automatically extend this one so for now it’s still 3 games, but agree it’s likely to be more once they review.

Town to Sign Chelsea Youngster

LB / LWB apparently. Long term back up for Leif, seems like a great idea. Academy scholar of the year at Chelsea and capped all the way up with England youth - must be decent!

Cajuste: Incredibly Frustrating
at 13:08:56

ArnieM - funny how after the Utd game you posted “We're not out of place at this level are we!” and now we lose a couple of close games and you’re calling for half the squad to be sold, and suggesting that Szmodics, a guy we’ve given a first chance at playing in the prem at the age of 28 after one good championship season, will be “asking for a transfer in Jan”.

The fact that we are even competing at this level is an incredible achievement. This time two years ago, we conceded in 90+6 to draw 1-1 with Fleetwood Town. Now you’re angry that we lost 1-0 to a club that made almost as much money selling one player (Olise) than we spent on our entire transfer window last summer. Pack in the melodramatic whinging and get behind the boys. Even if we go down, we’ve had an incredible run and the signings we’ve made are young and exciting, and should allow us a great chance to bounce straight back up and stabilise in the prem.

McKenna: With Everyone Fit and Available, We Are Pretty Strong in Midfield
at 16:39:15

We’d be mad to send Phillips back…Morsy is getting on a bit, and Cajuste is only just back from a long term injury. No chance they can play every game through the festive period, and we’re only one or two injuries/suspensions away from being light in that area again. I think Cajuste and Morsy are our best options there at the moment, but having Phillips ready to step in when needed will be massively important for our season. I’d also be tempted to bring Humphrys back in Jan for extra cover, particularly if Taylor might be used further forwards. I think as an U21 he wouldn’t count towards our squad limit.

McKenna: Our Most Disappointing Result But Response Has Been Good
at 19:36:18

This time three years ago we needed a 90+3 goal to beat Fleetwood Town, on our way to finishing 11th in league 1. I think McKenna has earned the right to say “trust the process”.

Halajko: Category One a Priority
at 14:17:33

ArnieM he’s not exactly using complicated terms…

Gap analysis = working out the gaps between we’re at and where we need to be for cat 1
timeline = timeline
trajectory = the plan
baseline = where we’re at
destination = where we’re going

Thought he spoke well actually, and good to see we have a very experienced professional taking charge of the move to cat 1.

McKenna: New Investment Good News For Everyone Involved With the Club
at 08:15:50

Really hoping that with the off field improvements planned (cat 1 academy in particular) and the fact that money will be available for transfers, McKenna will be convinced to stay here longer term. Biggest fear if we don’t go up is him getting poached by a Prem club like Brighton. Aside from that, I actually wouldn’t mind us missing promotion and having a summer to sign a few and stabilise before smashing the league next year.

Kasımpaşa Confirm Celina Signing
at 13:09:19

Shame, particularly as he was apparently keen to rejoin us. I suspect he's on high wages at his parent club and the Turkish club were willing to pay a higher proportion of them than we were. I can't imagine he would have chosen to play in front of such a tiny crowd if they'd left the choice to him. Ah well, I wish him the best!

Norwood Joins Barnsley
at 11:17:49

Agreed 100% Monkey_Blue. Drink driving is not “making a mistake”, it's a conscious decision to do something unbelievably dangerous to everyone else who might happen to be near by. If he'd hit and injured/killed someone while driving pissed everyone here would be saying what a sh*t he is. Just because he was lucky and didn't cause an accident doesn't mean the decision to drive in that state was anything other than awful. And as you say, being caught on two different occasions strongly suggests he did it a lot more times. Yes he played well for us and I'm grateful for that, but honestly I'm glad he's gone. Don't want people like that anywhere near our club.

McGreal: A Couple Have Had to Drop Out After Coming into Close Contact

Fairly sure close contacts only have to isolate if they haven't been vaccinated. Hope that's not the case though…if it is then they shouldn't be playing at all imo, they're putting everyone else at risk.

Keeper Picked Pompey Ahead of Town

“I've put a lot of trust in Danny“ definitely very full of his own self importance isn't he…if we had a loan player in I'd hope they'd be focussing on the trust we had put in them, not the other way around!
