I thought we had a much better structure today, for the first time in a while the players looked like they actually had an idea of what they were being asked to do. The quality of the team is what it is, but if Lambert can give us some organisation and focus there will be some hope of escaping this mess. |

Mowbray has it good at Blackburn, anyone who thinks he would have left them to come here is living in cloud cuckooland.
The £10m figure seems to be coming from Alan Nixon. Take with a grain of salt, his track record is dubious at best, although he does have connections with Lambert so could be coming straight from the horse's mouth. Not sure Lambert would be revealing things like that to the press before he'd even taken charge of a game though. |

Paul Hurst's recruitment has undoubtedly morphed us into a League 1 team trying to compete in the Championship. That said, we're not the only club in that situation. I'd say all of the bottom six are in the same boat, so if we can haul ourselves above three of them we can still get out of trouble and then look to rebuild. We can't afford to drop many more points though. We're already five points adrift with the worst GD in the division. At the very least we need to start turning losses into draws and draws into wins. |

After all that we've basically ended up with the Scottish Mick. Exactly the type of manager we need, a shame we've wasted the first two months of the season waiting for Evans and certain sections of our fanbase to understand that. |

Not to mention 18 shots to our 3 and 65% possession to 35%. The only stat we beat them on was fouls. Meanwhile Blackburn competed with them and beat them in their last match, so are we really saying we're that much worse than Blackburn? Come on. Last night was another disaster of a performance and Hurst needs to be shown the door before he does any more damage. [Post edited 25 Oct 2018 12:40]

Hurst has been sniping at the "senior players" since day one, and if he thinks that's the right way to go about things he's an absolute buffoon. He would have known about the limited budget when offered the job so to come out now and start complaining about it reeks of desperation.
Stop making excuses and sort things out, Paul. If you can't do that then step aside and let a proper manager come in and try to sort this mess out. |

Agreed, I was talking purely in terms of the result. As far as the performance they did hammer us, and today's performance suggests the players knew they got away with it and gained no confidence from that result at all. |

Good thing Evans didn't think the same when Jewell was here, we'd have been in L1 a lot sooner. Granted results under Jewell were a lot worse in terms of goals conceded, but today's performance was as bad as anything under the past few regimes.
I don't like calling for change this early, but we are in total freefall. There are no signs of things getting better. |

Hurst was a strange choice to begin with. Mick was removed because the fans wanted more entertaining football - so we bring in a bloke whose teams are known for being defensive and playing on the counter attack, more or less exactly how Mick had us set up to begin with. The main difference being the Hurst doesn't have anything close to Mick's experience or know-how.
What's strange is that we aren't playing like Shrewsbury did last season. They were very solid defensively, whilst we look like we never even practice defending in training. I'm not really sure what style of football we're meant to be playing. The team look confused on the pitch, there's no conviction in how we play.
It's all just gone horribly wrong. If you didn't know any better you'd assume from watching today's match that Swansea had hammered us, we looked so low on confidence. |
