Moving to City probably secured his future due to wages etc though it lead to a stagnation in her career. Town were on the slide when he left. OliveR16 - I get the frustration on the transfer fee, he is worth more. However if the stories are to be believed, if we didn't offer that clause then he would have gone elsewhere. Southampton were close to signing him. In fairness to Delap he has protected himself (and bet on himself to perform) and we've doubled our investment in less than 12 months. Overall it's not ideal but it's very harsh to say Ashton and the club have muffed this up |

I still feel it's a shame he is leaving as he could have done a job here given the chance. We should have never of bought him back from his loan unless we were going to give him a chance to play. He was playing and scoring well at Swindon. People may moan about him refusing to sign a new contract but personally I wouldn't have if my employer treated me the way they did. IMO Town messed this one up. |
