 | Forum Thread | Here's why McKenna might be thinking seriously about leaving at 13:10 25 May 2024
This is only a suggestion for debate, not a statement. You have just achieved a miracle by getting a team of good League One players promoted to the Premiership. You know that you also got a bit lucky when Leeds, as usual, completely bottled it. You are going to have to go through a major restructure of the squad, only two or three of whom stand much chance of becoming Premiership quality. You have a CEO who has no experience of that role in the Premiership. You are looking at a really tough season. You feel that you have earned the right to at least talk to top half Premiership clubs who are not relegation candidates. |

Apologies if this has been raised before, but should we try sign Huntchinson for the Prem? |

Al-Hamadi needs to hit the ground running, or we are going to struggle to keep in front of Soton and Leeds. |

Over the season, Sheff W just did not deserve to have to go through playoffs against a very average Peterborough. |

They seem to be very successful. I went for the first time last night, and paid £70 a head for a really crap meal. Is this typical, or was I unlucky? For the record, I had nasty slimy chicken wings with a bottled BBQ sauce, a gristly tasteless 'Black Angus' 50 day aged rib-eye, with really dreadful, supposedly triple cooked, chunky chips. The wine was good tbf. |

And she is managing the almost impossible task of finding even bigger idiots to replace them. Rees Mogg as an environment minister anyone? She is however, doing a very good job of further splitting the tory party. |
 | Forum Thread | VAR at 11:42 4 Sep 2022
As Tony Pulis says: "It's not VAR - let me get this correct. VAR just records the TV footage, it's the people who are running VAR. It's those human beings who are making the decisions. It's the referees stuck in that office, wherever they are, making the decisions." If they were poor referees on the pitch, like Lee Mason, for instance, they are just as poor on the VAR desk. Some of the decisions in the Newcastle, Leeds and Chelsea games were ludicrous. At least Michael Oliver, who is a very good referee, had the bottle to ignore VAR and stick by his original decision in the Forest game. |
 | Forum Thread | Michael O'Leary never holds back! at 12:06 11 Aug 2022
I know many don't, but I like his bluntness. From an interview he gave on the Radio 4 Today programme this morning. 'O’Leary blamed the outgoing prime minister, Boris Johnson, “and other ambitious idiots”, for creating the conditions that have left the UK in a labour crunch since departing from the EU.' “If there was much more honesty, or any honesty, from Boris Johnson’s government, they would come out and admit that Brexit has been a disaster for the free movement of labour and one of the real challenges being faced by the UK economy,” O’Leary said. |
 | Forum Thread | Good news for Truss at 11:37 3 Aug 2022
Well, have a read of this. Whoever wins the Tory leadership election, presumably Truss, is going to have fun. Of course this will be described as Project Fear, and it is written by EXPERTS. The most worrying thing is that it lends credence to the thought that the next two years are going to be such a disaster that the Tories will bring back the Fat Liar to fight the 2024 election. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/aug/03/inflation-will-soar-to-astronom |

Tugengdhat, who admittedly has an easier hand to play, is coming out of the C4 'debate' head and shoulders above the rest. Probably means nothing in the race, but the others are all coming across as false bullsh1tters. |
 | Forum Thread | Just another liar? at 11:36 14 Jul 2022
A letter in the Guardian today. Readers should recall that the Tory leadership candidate Penny Mordaunt is best known for persistently purveying falsehoods during the 2016 EU referendum campaign. During a TV interview with Andrew Marr, playing on fears of mass immigration, she claimed that Britain would not be able to stop Turkey joining the EU. As a former EU ambassador to Turkey, I can confirm that Turkey was not and is not in line for EU membership. Its membership of the EU customs union does not grant it free movement of people. Britain always had a veto over any aspiring member, and if Mordaunt had previously had any credibility, her infamous dishonesty about Turkey destroyed it. I thought part of the reason for ditching Boris Johnson was his habit of lying. Michael Lake EU official and diplomat, 1973-2001 |

Jonathan Portes is unimpressed. The candidates really are a bunch of fools yet their electorate will probably agree with them. “There’s just a bizarre disconnect from reality on the part of all of them,” said Jonathan Portes, a professor of economics and public policy at Kings College London. “They’re just off in this fantasy land, talking about tax cuts.” |
 | Forum Thread | It comes to something at 10:50 11 Jul 2022
It comes to something when Jeremy Hunt looks like the most capable candidate for PM. He is a hopeless t0sser, but that gives him a big lead over all the other candidates. Trouble is, even if they found a decent candidate, and it would have to someone I have never heard of, how the hell are they going to govern, when their cabinet is almost bound to be full of talentless dishonest numpties? The Tories have plummeted from a not very high place over the last 6 years. |
