Tractor Girls Win Again to Go Top
Perhaps show our less mentally tough other senior team this game. Oppo played a physical scrappy game but these young players maintained their mental strength and stuck to their game. Great result!
Cook: Disappointing, We'd Managed Their Threat
Cook may not want to criticise players but I will.
Lee Evans needs to lift his game. Been involved in both early goals we gave away.
Woolfenden is not up to it. Too slow on the ball and passing over rated.
Dobra: My Goal is to Play With Town's First Team
Monkey_Blue, Chambers had is opportunity as a leader of this club and failed where it counts - results. So I have no problem with another leader coming in and moving him on, however he chose to do it.
Lambert: We Kept Knocking and Got the Rewards
To the majority of posters on here - blah, blah, blah, blah - you are a bunch of sodding sooks. Make me sick with your negative dross. Cannot believe you can be such pessimistic (gee I want to swear here). Please just stop, stop and support. Just STOP!!!
EFL Confirm Switch to Five Subs
What is past is past, woulda, coulda, shoulda does not change it.
What I think we might see is Manager's making changes at half time more often now, especially when behind.
Remember they only have 3 opportunities to make a sub outside of half time so making one at half time gives them more flexibility. The 3 opportunities stops Manager's making 5 individual subs in the last 10 minutes of matches and wasting more time than they can we current rules.
Lambert: The Football We Played Was Incredible
I go back to the, I think Tottenham game, in pre-season. Dobra stood out as the main player that struggled at that level. No doubt he has benefited from those experiences and improved but he is a bit off week to week 1st team level, even as a sub. Send him out on loan and we will see a much better player next season.
Lambert: We Were a Bit Below But Showed Great Resilience
Not sure how many actually watched the game as my perspective varies from most. Yes they had more of the ball, as we predicted mind you, but we always looked in control in the first half, always looked like we could score a goal on the break. The start of the second half was terrible as we failed to keep control of the ball when we did get it to create those chances. PL identified that and was making the changes, although I would have switched Edwards rather than Sears. Unfortunately they scored just as those changes were being readied. I thought the changes then provided us the impetus we needed and we actually looked back in control. Flynn's tackle was not hot headed, it was a necessary one you expect of any midfielder in that position. Luck however was not in his favour as it looked a nasty injury (hoping it's only a medial and not acl). The we defended, albeit with a couple of nervy Holy moments, superbly. They were reduced to firing in crosses wide and way up the field which any decent team should defend and we did.
Personally, I think if there were no injuries we win.
Nsiala: I’ve Come Back Different Mentally
Already been plenty of plaudits for Toto's attitude here and deservedly so. I'm not sure he is first or second choice still but clean sheets will keep him in the team.
What I took out of the article also was the fantastic job Jewel, Evans & O'Neil are doing leading this group of young people in the right direction hopefully. Clearly they have had a huge impact in rebuilding Toto's confidence and giving him the arm band is just one more example. Some players need to be pumped up, some need to be told lift your game. Great leadership.
Town Confirm EFL Trophy Dates
Missing a date in their surely as go from 16 to semis which has 4 teams?
and round of 32 is December not January?
Town Confirm Stream Details for Spurs and West Ham
I will take the optimistic line.
As the stream is not part of the already negotiated relationship for streaming Ipswich matches I would imagine the provider is taking £5 per subscription, not the clubs. But given the times the subscriber is kindly donating the other £5 to the club you support.
Look at it as you giving £5 to Ipswich and paying £5 for a subscribed service.
And stop being so pessimistic.
Salary Cap More in Doubt
I am sure KiwiBlue, as I am, is aware of the salary caps in place in Australia and NZ for example. They genuinely work for in providing a stable and even competition but for sport that has thrived on relegation and promotion these numbers are utterly ridiculous.
The disparity in amounts between L1 and the Championship would make it next to impossible for promoted teams to compete. They are the ones that will have the majority of relegation clauses for players. No decent player is going to accept dropping their wage more than 85%.
O'Neill Not a Big Fan of Salary Cap
Here's a few thoughts:
1. if you cap anything in the PL the big clubs will walk and create a super league.
2. if you are serious about capping, check out abroad. Australia, the US have league's which effectively manage a salary cap at the elite level down.
3. players are only getting a proportion of what, TV essentially, is wiling to pay. TV don't want L1 and L2 on their stations. That's why the top 2 leagues get all the money. unless clubs and players in those leagues are prepared to give some of "their" money to the lower leagues the salary caps being talked about will only further the divide.
Blues Linked With Bristol Rovers Striker
All these rumours are initiated by agents - I pay no attention to them other than it is well identified we are a striker short on what we had last season. Not that he provided anything spectacular. Whether he is replaced by young players coming through we will see.
As for 'have a word's comment re development of young players being pitiful it may be a bit harsh a word to say pitiful. Not sure we haven't tried just nothing really substantial been made of it recently. Woolfy and Downes could change that one could argue.
O'Neill: Some Town Players on Furlough
Couple of points I'd like to make:
1. nobody, absolutely nobody, correctly predicted the path COVID-19 was going to create, least of all some players kicking a ball around. When asked to defer payment they were all still thinking they'd be finishing the season. Clearly that has changed as I hope their willingness to help the club is.
2. we all should really start thinking about living with COVID-19 just as we do with the flue, AIDS and other diseases we have no real cure for. It's not going away any time soon.
EFL Aiming for June 6th Restart Claim
Most want the seasons to be completed in a best case scenario. Therefore it should be planned for. The idea of setting a date allows clubs to start preparing is all. They are not saying it is categoric, far from it in fact. But they sure as hell could not play if they didn't plan for it.
