Shades of Kevin Bru and Larsen Toure... |

Whilst it would be good for one of the teams to stay up, I dearly hope Leeds fans get knocked down a peg or two early doors. Hearing alot of noise that they are going to do so much better than this years relegated three on name alone. |
 | Forum Reply | Genuine Question: Could a different manager have kept us up? at 12:03 6 Jun 2025
I know some fans dont like talking about it, but dont forget some of the refereeing/VAR-ing which shafted us in the first few months, which arguably denied some early momentum and putting back to back wins together. |
 | Forum Reply | Weirdly sadder about Delap now than I expected. at 09:35 5 Jun 2025
Same, but then i remind myself his form dropped off a cliff. Almost like the hype maybe got to him as he appeared to try creating something on his own more often Also, he never seemed as a good a fit to the Mckenna system as Hirst. So whilst he may be a success at Chelsea, I think it was looking less likely he would be a success under Mckenna here (i personally think it might not happen at Chelsea, but he will end up at a midtable club or back here in a season or two) [Post edited 5 Jun 12:02]

Agreed, he has great potential if he can rekindle his form of the first half of the season. He has some qualities of Drogba- maybe why Chelsea are interested. But i think all the MOTD talk of England/Kane's successor has whipped up the hype a little prematurely imo...has that hype gotten to him and is why since the turn of the year he has looked more often like he is choosing to do something individually? (it appears the team and his form dropped off in unison in January) He also has a bit of a 'Diego Costa' side to his game which can be a hinderance/frustrating to watch. I do think we can be a better team without LD...and i believe we have a higher scoring rate with Hirst in the team? [Post edited 27 May 10:39]

 | Forum Reply | This season - disaster? at 11:29 19 May 2025
I think for some fans the novetly of the prem (as a competition/spectacle) wore off pretty quickly...as soon as patterns of decisions and 'bias' were noticeable, at least that was my feeling. I was one that thought lower midtable was achievable. I think the margins of error in alot of games, with the context of missing players, outrageouse VAR calls etc, means we were not far off picking up at least a dozen more pts...so overall i think our luck has been out and with smarter recruitment, odds are we will be far better off if we can get promoted again with this squad mostly intact. Key for me is a winning start...if we struggle in august to pick up pts i fear we will struggle |
 | Forum Reply | I'll preface this post by saying I know he's off. at 18:48 14 May 2025
Its going to take an absolutely blinding season from him to get into that final squad isnt it? WIth the little senior squad experience he has, and based on Tuchel's squads so far, hes gone for senior international experience for the main. Do you think LD's camp have a high expectation a move away can lead to making the WC squad? Fair play to have that ambition, but he's got a fair way to go to get above Kane, Rashford, Watkins and even possibly Solanke (judging from past WC squads, except for Walcott 2006). Theres also a few others with senior experience who have had off seasons and may get the nod if they rediscover old form next season. Oops, replied to the wrong post Phil... | Forum Reply | Is this the reason Hirst started Sunday and not Delap? at 15:50 15 Apr 2025
Surely i cant be the only Town fan who thinks we are a better attacking team with Hirst instead of Delap as the lone Striker? GH hold up and interplay with the attacking 3 is better IMO, whilst Delap has more potential to create something out of nothing on his own and run with it. I genuinely think if it wasnt for injuries, Hirst would have played his way into starting more games over LD. |
 | Forum Thread | Now we have pretty much nothing to lose, and in terms of form at 10:58 17 Mar 2025
everything to gain, i really hope KM sees this international break as an opportunity to tweak the system and the lineup for the remaining 9 games. There appears to be no progress in performances/results from the recent line-ups including the january additions. Hirst has to be back in the team. I would love to see Delap in the LAM position depending on the opposition, alternate with Smod if fit. Hutchinson offers the most on the RAM generally. Regularly playing 3 cbs, including Burgess to give us as solid a platform as possible and hopefully stem the flow of conceding from set pieces regularly. As relegation looks near certain, it would be good to see us develop a plan b system (we did use a 3 cb system for a few games, particularly away from home but appears in recent months we have regularly played 4 2 3 1) |

 | Forum Reply | My weirdest take from yesterday at 15:00 3 Feb 2025
The 'Ipswich is a dump' type comment has always seemed odd to me. With respect to the pretty rural areas of Suffolk or say York, yes it is not the prettiest town and has areas badly in need of development. I had a friend who makes such comment and lives near Derby... But in many ways it is like most other average UK towns in the past couple decades, suffering from cuts to funding, increase in violent crime (cant quote stats mind) and other socio economics changes evident in rest of the the country. Get the impression people who always say that have only ever lived in very affluent or rural areas... [Post edited 3 Feb 15:01]

Watching it live i was disappointed Clarke did not track back following the turnover. He could have either covered for Leif or supported him. Perhaps Leif would not have committed to a challenge... |
 | Forum Reply | Morning, well afternoon, after thoughts at 14:49 4 Dec 2024
We have had as many good performances and reasonable results as bad ones. Liverpool- a reasonable fight against a title challenger Fulham- Good performance, v unlucky to not get the win Brighton- excellent away pt Villa- excellent home performance, unlucky not to win Brentford- Dominant 40 mins, calamitous error cost us a more than deserved draw Leicester- Better team, calamitous refereeing Spurs- First win etc Utd- another excellent performance vs a european challenger, unlucky not to win To me the common theme against our win column is sloppy goals/calamitous errors and refereeing. A few outstanding chances/saves too ,but benefit of the doubt to the keepers at this level. One thing about recent weeks, is the defence has tightened and sloppy errors have been cut out. But we are now struggling to score. I do think we are partly struggling with the attacking 3 changes- at this level how many teams regularly change the front 3/4 players?? I sincerely hope KM looks back at the past few games and decides to start the front 4 as follows, when fit Hutch Chaplin Smod/Broadhead Delap This selection has coincided with some of the best performances in the past 7/8 games. | Forum Thread | Reflecting on last nights game in context of the promotion seasons at 10:01 4 Dec 2024
Palace, and somewhat Everton, are this seasons Wycombe or West Brom. Strong, athletic teams who counter quickly and are horrible to play through. Do we have a change of system to cope, as increasingly teams are setting up this way at PR? I would love to see a switch to a 4 2 2 2 formation when we are desperate for a goal- Smod and Delap up top. The issue is this time we are playing at a higher technical level when we have the space to play... |
 | Forum Reply | Reflecting on the voting debates at 09:37 6 Nov 2024
I think the fact there are so many who dont understand and demonise those who vote conservative/republican may be part of the problem and the cause of the divide (FYI I would say i am centre left with some beliefs/values in the centre right camp) Dont get me wrong there are plenty of voters with blind loyalty and cult like thinking. But it appears to me from the discussion ive heard and seen on X etc is the main concerns for a Harris term was border security, the global situation since the Dems have been in charge and the economic hardship. Also, i get the impression there is perception that alot of the modern media output is anti traditional (nuclear?) family values in its aim to be inclusive or trendy to gen Z. Now we can argue that they are wrong in some of those beliefs and some of it down to lack of education etc. I find it is more often the young generations/people in the suburban middle income bracket that tends to not understand these worries. |

In an ideal scenario, there would be some sort of reform of PGMOL/ the premier league in our absence which would lead to either a) fairer and more consistent use of VAR b) abolishment of VAR, use of semi autimated offsides and goal line technology excluded and addressing financial disparity and state funded ownership to even the playing field. With the above im sure it would be much more enticing to return to |
 | Forum Reply | Anyone else struggling to enjoy the prem? at 17:04 4 Nov 2024
To be honest despite overperforming massively last year, i was hoping we would not only stay up but have a crack at a midtable finish (as those lot up the road have done in the not so distant past), and not become a yoyo club (again, those lot). Of course, staying up would be brilliant and from our start/current position it would arguably be an even greater achievement |

Waited 20 years to experience it and the excitement of playing the big teams, but in all honesty the novelty started to wear off a little when i noticed how easily cards were dished out to us v Pool. It shouldnt need to 'even out' but here hoping for a couple of bs decisions going our way and 2 shock wins in the next two games... |
 | Forum Reply | Anyone else struggling to enjoy the prem? at 14:28 4 Nov 2024
I half expected the 'bias' but only really against the top 6....it is most games! Although last season we also struggled to get given 'legitimate' penalties... |
