Ashton Writes to Fans at End of Town's Summer Recruitment Revolution
at 22:14:05

While the results so far this season have been frustrating, the play and entertainment has been better than it has been for so many years. Ashton and co have done wonders this window and the owners have certainly put their money where their mouths are. And for that we thank you. It's also so refreshing to actually hear from people who are involved with the club especially in such lofty positions. So much better than a vague message from Marcus Evans followed by a “be careful what you wish for” footnote. I honestly think this squad will go from strength to strength. I wasn't happy we gave a two goal lead away last weekend. I wasn't happy we lost to Cheltenham, or even Newport in the cup. But that's football and it doesn't always go your way. All I can say is we are not being served the dross of the ME era, and while we all wanted a quick fix, it's long term that we need to look at and player for player we are in a better place than we were even 6 months a go. Forget the “trust the process” mantra. Never mind the “time to gel” argument. Whilst there is elements of truth in those it's also true that our better players should've got better results so far this season but we are supporters of this club. Let's not oust Cook. Let's not argue with each other. Let's enjoy this new dawn. Let's enjoy these new players. Let's support them, the players, Paul Cook and his staff, because we love this team and let's give it time to develop and see where it takes us. We've had it bad but this is not the same and this window hopefully puts that in to perspective. The results will come I'm sure of it.

McCarthy Understands Fans' Frustrations
at 21:23:22

Off point a little but kind of not really....just wondering....Connor Grant...why has he faded in to oblivion and been left out in the cold? Looked good and promising first few games, got a brief injury and has now just been phased out. Dozzell, promising last season, potential to play a part this season....not a chance. It's beyond a joke!

Williams Set to Return
at 09:20:05

Think this would be a brilliant signing. He can make a difference in games. A great talent. And I my opinion not injury prone as such, not like Mcgoldrick, but rather targeted by the opposition as he's actually table to run at players and beat a man. Slow midfielders and defenders dont like that. Played alongside players like ward, bishop, grant and Lawrence who can all do similar would cause the opposition lots of problems and he wouldn't be such a target. When he's been with us before he's been the only player capable of doing this as Mcgoldrick was out during his first spell and some of his second, whilst Bishop was out all of his second.

Newcastle-Bound Murphy Not in Town Squad
at 14:38:33

If Murphy wants to go then so be it. He's been a great servant to us and always worked his socks off for the cause. I'm disappointed about it but more disappointed that he apparently put in a transfer request. That I wouldn't have expected. Shame really but I wish him well. He wants to go so have to let him go.
As far as smith being back in the team I personally am happy at this. I rate Smith's form as better than Berra's over last season so at the start of this one is have played Smith and Berra. After the last few games I think Websters lack of experience at this level has shown a little and Berra has seemed more solid. Webster looks good and in sure will do very well for us but has the odd mistake in him at present. The penalty he gave away at Wolves, his miss hit panicked clearance on Sunday which resulted in them hitting the post, could've been worse for us on both accounts. So I think it's right to give him a rest and let him develop and learn from more experienced players. I'm sure he'll be back in again soon. Sunday was probably the biggest game of his career so far.
I don't think we need so much defensive cover on the bench though. Let's go for it for a change! Hoping the Murphy move will see Sears return to form and the score sheet! Come on Town!!!

Varney to Undergo Rehab at Town

@bohslegend
I think i'm starting to agree with you. My "down votes" would also support this theory! Oh well, each to their own and thats part of the beauty of football.

Varney to Undergo Rehab at Town
at 13:55:53

@jas0999
I wouldn't say that i am, or indeed that we need to be, concerned with the lack of new signings so far. Granted we have lost a fair few since our play-off exit but we should now by now that Mick's transfer dealings are always kept under fairly heavy wraps, and we only tend to hear about it once a deal is done and signed. Often with Mick, 2 or 3 players tend to all come in at once. So there is still plenty of time for new ,and suitable, additions to the squad. That said, I would also like to see some new faces sooner rather than later. Firstly so the new players have time to embed in to the team ready for the kick off at Brentford, and secondly as an idea of our intent this season. A few good quality signings would show we mean business this season. So, would be great to see new players come in asap, but at this moment we should not be too worried that we haven't seen any.

Milne: Football League Must Stand Firm on FFP
at 11:27:40

It's simple. The FFP was put in place and it was agreed upon by the majority of clubs. So, QPR disregarded this and got themselves promoted, not they have returned to the Championship they should face sanctions. I think the way they have conducted themselves as a club, signing players even now and saying F off to the football league and its rules, should warrant a strong punishment, and one that will hit them hard. Fines perhaps, stop their parachute payments even, deduct points or whatever but something needs to be done and they need to be used as an example. The playing field needs to be leveled which is the exact point of the FFP initiative. Personally, I think a fine would not worry them (although it should still be enforced). I also think that a transfer embargo should be in place until all outstanding fines are paid up, and instead of a points deduction (as I agree with a previous poster who said that this would water down the integrity of competition) QPR should perhaps be forced to play with 10 or even 9 men until all fines are paid up, or for every home game in a season so all opposition teams get a fair crack at them. This would still allow all teams to begin on an equal footing points wise, still provide QPR with a chance to win games/the league or promotion, assist with their transfer embargo (less players needed anyway as only playing with 10 or 9) whilst also punishing them for their breach.

McCarthy: We Can Bounce Back
at 11:44:33

I'm really hoping Didz will stay. I think playing him in a front 3 will do him wonders. If he plays just behind Sears and Murph we can use his creative influence and ability to play in the other two. With Murph's and Sears work rate you can pretty much guarantee that even if they are not in a clear goal scoring position they can create in turn create chances for the on coming Didz. I think it would be a very prolific front three that if used correctly will ensure that there is creativity and a killer pass, ariel ability, work rate and power. Let Didz have the free kicks too! Smith: Boss Has Done a Tremendous Job
at 12:40:31

True @Sospiri. As I have often said, I dont always agree with Mick's tactics or decisions, but I support him 100% in what he does, as I do every player who is selected to play in any match regardless of their past performances. Maybe had we had gone for it more and attacked teams we would have got top two, or maybe we would have come undone and missed top 10! At the end of the day the fact is we got in the top 6 to make the play-offs and that can't be taken away. So whatever team Mick picks, I will support them, as I will support Mick in the choices he makes. COYB!

The Bloody Binners It Is Then - Notes for the Norwich First Leg Play-Off
at 12:30:36

Can't stand those budgies! I really do think it would be a great idea to have the current side see/read these kinds of comments from opposition fans. If they see that the scum supporters view them as a bye, believe they are playing backwards, joke football, are piss poor and a shambles defensively, I really think it could help get the adrenaline pumping just that little bit more to prove a point. Especially players like Bru and Bishop who can hurt opposing teams on their day with their ability. I don't think there has ever been in a game in my nearly 30 years of supporting the town that I've wanted to win more! COYB!

Murphy in PFA Team of the Year
at 12:01:59

So who picks this team then? Wheres Berra? I'm sure I've heard Keogh's name mentioned at Town before but....Nah i'm only joking. Made me laugh @Shedboy. Some people don't always read the full article before posting.
What I wanted to add was that it is interesting that these are the 11 players that other players have picked as being the top 11 and yet Bamford was not included. What does that say about Bamford as his football league award? Well done to Murph too. He has shown hard work and dedication from the day he first arrived here on loan (scored too as I remember) and has always wanted to do well for the team. He deserves this recognition from players, pundits and supporters. Would love a couple of play off hat tricks to surpass 30....we can dream! COYB!

Hunt Expected to Return for U21s
at 11:49:19

Good news. Not perhaps the best idea to make too many changes at this stage of the season but should we make the play-offs (and to be honest I cant see us not making it now although with us you never know what fate might throw up) I think maybe mixing it up a bit could work in our favor. Get Noel, Ambrose and a few other fringe players more invloved in these games. It may throw off the game plan of the opposition. If we go a bit "samey" they will just try to mark Murph and Sears out the game and we may struggle. Although its a risk vs reward type situation as the more permanent 11 players know their jobs and whta is required of them so well so changes may disrupt that. Over to you Mick and TC. I know that they will, as will the players, give it a good go and if its our year then bring it on, but if not, lets take heart from the fact that things are moving upward for us.

Injured Williams Returns to Palace
at 13:12:12

Feel sorry for the lad. Gets crunched at every opportunity. Hope he recovers to go on and have a long and successful career.

Feel some are being a bit unfair on Jonny calling him injury prone. I don't necessarily think he is prone to injury I think its more that he's a skillful, clever footballer who is young and spritely when on the ball. He often chooses to take a man or two on and carry the ball forward to make things happen. Quite often, older or slower or frustrated players (or a combination of all those attributes) get annoyed or struggle to find a way to deal with him and so either miss time a tackle or, try to kick lumps out of him. Both of these situations can cause injury and sometimes serious ones. Jonny's injury picked up against Watford for which ruined his season this year was not his fault but was a case of Ekstrand losing out for pace with Jonny so instead jumped in on him to stop him. I don't believe for one minute Jonny is injury prone and think he is often targeted by the opposition, which is not his fault. I've seen him walk away from some horrendous tackles but inevitable one eventually gets him and causes him a big problem. So in my view not injury prone but more of a target. It does though take away our plan B as some have said. I think this has been the reason Mick didnt add much to his squad during the window, he was holding out for Jonny to complete his loan. Now a really useful player who could have made a big difference looks likely to be out and gone so I just hope we can find another way to get the results we need should we get 6th or even take 5th from Derby. I trust Mick, he does what is needed to get the job done with what he has available to him, but I just hope we have enough. COYB! Lets just get the last two games and those 4 points out the way first!
