We know we aren’t anywhere near as equipped as established PL clubs but makes me wonder how teams like Millwall, Stoke, Coventry seem capable of finding good deals abroad. If we go another window without going abroad, it has to be through choice. We supposedly have access to Brighton’s data system, it’s not like we aren’t aware of who these players are. |

I’m really hoping we have a couple of deals lined up and virtually done subject to another dominoe falling elsewhere. McKenna alluded to being relegated early being beneficial as we’ve had longer to get ourselves in order but not sure we’ve seen any evidence of that so far. |

It can’t be trimming the fat if they are roles you need to replace. Mukandi is a loss. Lots of experience, ex Arsenal and now going to a very well run club in Bournemouth in the Prem. And would assume for Birmingham (a club on the up) to want Carpenter in a senior role, he’s decent at his job too. Then add on Lee Grant, who we have no announced replacement for yet. It does worry me a touch to be honest. We’ve lost two very talented members of staff that were cogs in our last promotion push. |

Absolutely. How are the FA supposed to know if years down the line an owner will stop paying players/staff or run the club into financial ruin? Mel Morris is an example of someone who would tick every box of any test but he ended up putting Derby into dire straits. |

I think “physicality” comes in many forms. I read it more as athleticism and endurance not necessarily that you need 11 players that are 6ft+ powerhouses. Someone like Leif Davis for example has PL physicality. Omari is another one. |

I wonder if we want bulky fees feeding into next year's PSR cycle. I would expect things to start moving post 1st July. Getting the balance right with that midfield starting duo is going to be pivotal I think, regardless of all the talent we have in defence and attack. |

Where does Johnson play though? That would be my question. McKenna doesn't seem to like him as the hybrid RB/RCB and you will be able to count on one hand the number of times we want to play with a more conservative RW next season. |

I think that's broadly how I expect this window to go. If Morsy goes we need 3 strong midfield signings and I think we need an experienced head/leader in that position. I could see us really pushing the boat out for Brownhill. [Post edited 25 Jun 13:21]

 | Forum Reply | All speculation, but if Axel actually had a PL move on the table... at 13:11 25 Jun 2025
I've thought for a while that we are his best route back to being a PL regular. I just don't see that another club at that level is going to offer him any more than a shortish term deal as a squad option at best. As far as I know, he hasn't even been linked anywhere else other than Trabzonspor yet? Also, the role he has established himself in here is perhaps somewhat unique. Do many others play with a hybrid RB/RCB? |

Particularly when he thought he was above us earlier in the summer last year before eventually signing in the end. |

Disagree with that. I think he really grew into it in 23/24 and was churning out some excellent performances at the back end of that season. He was superb off the bench and giving us a different skill set later on in games - he was brilliant at Coventry in particular. He was basically 6 months behind Omari as he only joined in January. Not saying he will ever hit the heights Omari is capable of but he's a very good player McKenna obviously likes. Ditto Rak-Sakyi - you can't really compare a season playing for Chris Wilder to what McKenna may be able to do with him. [Post edited 25 Jun 11:49]

In doing this, I was looking at Brighton's squad. Absolutely absurd. These are their 10/wide options: March Gruda Enciso Adingra Minteh Mitoma Moran Buonanotte Cozier-Duberry Sarmiento Watson Kostoulas |

With McKenna here, I would think we are going to be at the front of the queue for the best young Premier League loanees this summer. We seem to have a good relationship with Chelsea and Brighton in particular. So, some possible options: Chelsea - Omari Kellyman, Tyrique George, Marc Guiu, Josh Acheampong Brighton - Amario Cozier-Duberry, Tom Watson, Stefano Tzimas Off topic, but also wonder if we may go back for Sarmiento or Rak-Sakyi permanently. Both will be available I imagine. [Post edited 25 Jun 11:44]

Hopefully he has no interest in moving to Germany then! |
 | Forum Reply | Omari off? at 09:12 25 Jun 2025
Not sure any of those Prem clubs rate him highly enough to pay £35m but Dortmund would be the worry for me. If they sell Bynoe-Gittens to Chelsea then Omari is an obvious replacement. [Post edited 25 Jun 9:13]

We get rid of the release clause, he gets higher wages than the 40% reduced ones in his previous deal following relegation. Show of commitment from both parties for the season ahead. [Post edited 24 Jun 16:58]
