How exactly does the buy-back clause work? How can Man City use it? |

Only 9 subs allowed. I don't think he will be selected ahead of the 9 I listed. To be fair I should possibly have listed all the players that are not going to make the first XI or the subs bench |

Brilliant comment (saved me posting something similar) and it's good to see so many replies in support. Those that post that certain players are not good enough and won't be in first XI seem to have overlooked a key part of the McKenna process:- It's a squad game and every member of our 25 man squad is important. We have seen this repeatedly over the last 2 seasons with substitutes winning or protecting so many points. We have seen players step up to cover injuries, suspensions or loss of form. Every member knows that if they perform well in training they stand a chance of getting the nod. We will finalise the 25 man squad in the next week. We know that Mckenna will have faith that every member will not let us down in the PL. If they're good enough for KM, they're good enough to deserve the full support of every ITFC supporter. No exceptions. Finally, I hope Mike Ashton sees this thread to reassure him that his efforts to preserve the ITFC culture as a family and community based club are widely supported. Hopefully he might be able to track down some of the thugs mentioned in this thread. |

He has many special qualities- balance, energy, speed and fast feet. I suspect as he gains more experience he'll learn to drift into the box and embarrass centre-backs and become a very useful goalscorer. Having said that, I trust McKenna's judgement more than my gut feeling, if KM doesn't think he's worth £7m then he probably isn't. |

Couple of points you might be overlooking:- a) It's a squad game- there will be injuries, loss of form and suspensions b) 9 times out of 10, Mckenna uses all 5 substitutes to allow us to play with high intensity for 95+ minutes every game. |
 | Forum Reply | So how much have we spent ? at 13:15 19 Aug 2024
Excluding loan payments and add-ons (and from memory) Muric £10m Townsend £1m Greaves £15m Delap £10m Szmodics £10m Total £46m (insignificantly reduced by incoming transfer fees) Apparently we're still after a CB a LW and a No.9 |
 | Forum Thread | Very optimistic at 10:56 18 Aug 2024
I thought everybody that played yesterday showed that they have something to offer in the PL either as a starter or as a member of the squad. A testament to McKenna's ability to improve players. Apparently we're still after a striker and a LW. If you also throw in Phillips, Cajuste and Szmodics after they've had a couple of weeks with McKenna, I think we'll more than hold our own this season. If we'd had all these players available yesterday (not forgetting Hirst and Broadhead) I think we might have sneaked a draw. It's going to be another great season. |

I've been surprised by the lack of activity in this area. I wonder if McKenna has a cunning plan - convert Ben Johnson into a DM? Perhaps Humphrys and/or Taylor are improving? |

might be about to pay dividends. Ben Johnson's motivation for seeking a move is "career development". Footballers know that if they come to Ipswich they'll be brilliantly coached and, if they work hard, they'll get their chances in the first team. |
