TWTD Questionnaire 2022/23

Q13 Best League One side faced during 2022/23?

Hats off to Plymouth for maintaining their form over the course of the season and pulling off innumerable results in the latter stages of games when we thought they were about to slip up.

Perhaps a little fortunate with refereeing decisions and a deflection in the games against us, but overall I don't think any Town fan denies that they were the division's other outstanding team.

Sheffield Wednesday's team put their fans through the wringer in a remarkable manner. From being all but promoted in February, their collapse was extraordinary and seemed one from which there was no return.

Their play-off semi-final comeback against Peterborough showed they had the type of fight which previously seemed absent, while they rode their luck to finally make it up at Wembley with 10-man Barnsley having been the better team for the most part despite having been on the end of two very bad decisions.

But if three sides get 90-plus points, it's difficult to argue that they don't deserve promotion.

Port Vale deserve a mention for giving Town two tough games despite ultimately coming out of the two matches without claiming a point.

Derby under Paul Warne might well be the team to watch next season in League One.
