TWTD Questionnaire 2022/23

Q14 Best League One opposition player of the year?

Barry Bannan, who obviously has to be referred to as Barry Bannan in full at all times, was second in this section last year behind Scott Twine.

The hub of the Wednesday side in perhaps the same way Jim Magilton was of Town in the late 1990s/early 2000s, it will be interesting to see how Bann... sorry Barry Bannan fares in the Championship.

Norwich City's Bali Mumba had impressed in both games against the Blues for Plymouth even before his last-gasp deflected goal at Portman Road claimed a point for the Pilgrims. Not sure he'll get such a positive vote from Town fans next year if he makes similar contributions for his parent side.

Elsewhere, Morgan Whittaker was impressive enough against Town and with Argyle overall for the Blues to look at buying him from parent club Swansea, where he played only fleetingly following his recall.

Plymouth's Michael Cooper was the division's outstanding keeper alongside Town's Christian Walton, while David McGoldrick continues to be a fans' favourite with every club he moves to. The best player of the Mick McCarthy era without a doubt.

Summer and January Blues target Jack Taylor also impressed fans during his season with Peterborough.

Surely that should be Barry Bannan in the key to the side of the graph as well?

I would not argue that McGoldrick was the most talented player we had during the reign of McCarthy, but given his lack of availability due to various ailments (that coincidentally cleared up once he moved on) I would suggest that Murphy was a better servant to the club, and so was the better player for Ipswich.

Baz Bannan is good
But I would not swap him for any of our midfield
