So a game approached with some trepidation. Bolton a team on form and with real quality in many positions, and as we drove up the A12 the Millwall and Huddersfield results began to loom into view. But a massive 3 points gained, on a Saturday where almost every result (bar the Owls) went against us. A loss and we would be staring into the abyss, doom laden. Especially with a 2 week break to stew in the league table ahead of us.

But let's be clear we were outplayed yet again (55% to Bolton on our turf), and we carried 5 players playing badly today, and indeed Hyam and especially Drury were terrible. Edwards, stearman and Murphy also had bad days at the office. 'Sleepwalking into relegation' would have been an apt title to a match report from this afternoon. The performances of our centre backs - the excellent chambers and smith - a solid keeping display from Henderson, with the energy and quality of tab and mcgoldrick keeping us in the game, and then the crucial introduction of chops and JET stole us the match.

Some of the long ball from Drury and stearman at times was embarrassing, can they really charge £30 for that!?!? Drury was out of his depth, and Hyam seemed to have lost a yard and was losing 50/50s and making basic errors. Bolton passed it well, and were able to make space for themselves by switching play. And yet we seemed to have the clearest chances.

Drurys low point was the woeful delivery of our only corner. And surprisingly mick took tab and mcgoldrick, off - some of our brighter players - for chops and jet. When Drury and Hyam were desperate to be removed. As soon as chops started getting on the ball, combining with the sublime skills of jet we showed real menace. Indeed Bolton could not handle JET- he was beating men, winning everything and just on top of his position. And our captain stood up and was counted, removing any negativity over his earlier role.

Lets not forget the majesty of smith, chambers and to a lesser extent cresswell and Henderson - they worked their socks off to keep Bolton quiet and they got their rewards with a superb 3 points.

But let's be clear there are still twists and turns in this relegation battle. - and we need to get the ball down and eradicate the hoofs, as we did with chops and JET to stand any chance of survival!

You could not have been at the game to have written your report ! Bolton only had a spell in the second half when they caused us any problems ! Good solid all round performance and a thoroughly deserved three points as Henderson did not have to make a save ! One day ( hopefully soon ) we will convert all of our chances and a team is going to get a real spanking .

I thought Drury had a good first half although like the rest of the midfield he faded in the second. He certainly found a blue shirt more regularly than N'Daw has in recent games!

Bolton had plenty of possession in the second half bbbut frankly Henderson didnt have a save to make. It was not pretty at times but we got three points and in our position thats all that counts at the moment.

Very valuable three points ahead of the fortnight international break. I enjoy watching Stearman, and am very happy with our back four. Tabb played well, industrious. We all needed the release of Edwards scoring a late winner!
