Here you go Marcus, Mick's written your speech. on 14:08 - Jan 27 by ClausThomsen
Have you got the league table from this time last year? Where do you find that? I don't think we were in the playoff places much at all last season.
Since the playoffs MM's performance has snowballed in the wrong direction. To the point now it's a huge heap of thawing slush.
We had dropped two places and a point outside as of a year ago today having been been fifth a couple of weeks beforehand. As a sidenote, when we won at Preston in the August we actually went top.

Just dropped outside, fair enough. Losing 3-0 to Birmingham having just been knocked out of the FA cup, outclassed over 2 legs by a team many leagues below us.

even Roy Keane was top in August!
Was he? I don't recall ever hitting the top under RK. Thought the Boxing Day win at Brentford was the first time since Joe Royle's time in charge, although I could be wrong.

Very much the turning point of the season around then. The cup games against Portsmouth, the Birmingham game, which was the first away league defeat since the October and then the QPR game when Fraser and a number of others got injured.

I think you're right.
After we beat Charlton on Sky to go 2nd in the table the reporter claims it is the highest we've been for 'x' amount of years, presumably under Joe Royle.
EDIT: Just watched it again and said it was our highest league position since September 2010.

Weren't we top after winning 3-0 away to Middlesbrough on the opening day of the season under Keane?

How can anyone not like Mick when he gave us memories like that?

welllll equal top on points on the last day of August 2010. my point was really that top after 4 or 5 games is just a run of form more than anything more meaningful.

I don't disagree with you and actually I didn't think we deserved to win at Preston. Brighton somewhat outclassed us in the following first-v-second clash down here, I thought.
