The old style British forwards in the days when any tackle counted were as hard as the defenders who tried to stop them. I read an article once where Bob Latchford of Everton reckoned Beattie was the hardest player he ever faced. When you consider that Latchford was all elbows and took no prisoners and a superb forward that's a great tribute to Beattie. | | | |
