How are Hurst's major signings still at the club? 07:00 - Dec 9 with 1396 views | IGO | Nolan, Jackson, Nsiala, Donacien remain despite the 'Demolition Man' period. Yet they were the bedrock of Hurst's awful tenure.

How are Hurst's major signings still at the club? on 07:43 - Dec 9 with 1276 views | azuremerlangus | Long, expensive contracts which couldn’t be shipped out to another club or paid up? At the moment 50% of them are getting regular 1st team places. No idea what is going on with Nolan.

How are Hurst's major signings still at the club? on 09:50 - Dec 9 with 947 views | Alberto_the_frog | In the case of Jackson, no-one wanted him. In the case of Nolan, probably because it would be failing in a duty of care to chuck him out when we hadn't been able to get him fit enough for the new manager to see what he could do (is this the first time a player's injury has lasted longer than a manager's tenure?) We are probably down to the level where Donacien and Nsiala can perform (plus again JD was out on loan so Cook couldn't get a realistic picture of his worth) | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How are Hurst's major signings still at the club? on 10:31 - Dec 9 with 820 views | Churchman | Who on earth would want them? Actually, that’s harsh on Nsiala and Donacien. Not the the best, but at this level they have something to offer for the moment. But Nolan? Unless you want to keep the treatment table warm, why? Ironically I thought he looked the action midfielder we needed when he played for Shrewsbury in the play offs. Jackson? Not worth wasting the words.

Who did Lambert sign permanently in his three years: Norwood, Ward, Hawkins, Cornell, Keane, Wilson, Judge Norwood is still here and Wilson, Cornell, and Keane weren't bad signings. Ward and Judge were just too old. On paper they weren't horrendous signings (with the exception of Hawkins) [Post edited 9 Dec 2021 15:56]

too many were too old (add in collins and dawkins to that) or not good enough the fact that 2 of the 3 remaining were in the bomb squad says a lot. hurst overpaid, but his choices were a better age and at least had some sell-on value. he also had much better taste in loanees (chalobah/walters/pennington vs quaner/bennets/harrop!) he also had great foresight, bringing in quality league one players for our relegation!
