Embroided club badge 21:50 - May 17 with 2603 views | SchancheITFC | My plan is to get a red Adidas hoody like the players wear, and get and Ipswich badge embroided on. Has anyone else done similar ? Is it something a embroidery shop can do?

If you aren't selling the item with the badge on or using it to falsely claim you're an ITFC staff member, then there is no issue. Would be the same as painting a Town crest on your face before a significant game.

I used to go through my school trousers so frequently that my mum ran out of apple patches and farmyard animals and the like. I drew the line and insisted on a new pair of strides when she patched up a hole in the seat area with a starfish patch we had picked up on a visit to SeaLife.

They had a very limited supply of the red during pre season as I was very close to buying a hoodie on my visit, but I had already picked a load of other stuff so decided against it.

Actually, photoshops are not supposed to reproduce images subject to CW - even if for personal use, so, embroidery places may also be subject to similar rules.

That's correct. I tried before and was turned down for that reason. On a different theme, shops can't use a copyright image. For example, if you wanted to use a photo of your son/daughter's favourite Disney character onto those customisable birthday cakes, they can't do it for copyright reasons.

Thats really not true by the way. The embroidery shop would need permission from the club to replicate the badge as there maybe significant sums involved with being able to reproduce that artwork. Its theft of not only ITFC's but Adidas' copyright, he's effectively making a market stall knock off of the training top, whats to stop him going back and getting another 10 done for his 'mates' and so on. Face painters are tolerated because after 5 hours it gets washed off. [Post edited 19 May 2022 8:07]

The club or Adidas won't have an issue with a one off item. There is a rich history of people taking clothing and altering them, plus it will be give the same pass as most fan art is. If he then goes on to make more or look to sell them, then they'll take a look at the brand impact and any licensing agreement - which will almost certainly be refused. Technically it's illegal, but there is no way they can, or will want to enforce any individual item. The issue will be with whoever produced the embroidered badge. As the badge is trademarked they'll either have to get the artwork under false pretences or redraw it - both of which will set the alarms off. Best option would be to get a badge off an existing item of merch and repurpose it.

Can you sell your own tattoo off your skin? No, I thought not.

Embroided club badge on 12:05 - May 19 with 1446 views | itfcjoe | It'd be cheaper to find the cheapest thing in the club shop with a badge on and cut that off and fix it onto the hoody - but think the hoody wouldn't have an embroided badge anyway - only the playing kit has that

There may be some on sale at the open day, so I'd hold fire, if you can make it.

It'll be out of date by then, seeing as all our stuff will be Umbro.
