Would you take Mick back if 22:11 - Jul 29 with 4324 viewsCarpyBlue

...he was in a sporting director/scouting role, assisting the recruitment team in making signings?

Thought his recruitment was very good with us for the most part, imagine what he could do with some money at our disposal!

Obviously Ashton, McKenna and the current recruitment team would still lead the charge but to have Mick as a sort of advisory voice could be a good thing maybe?

Why on earth would an old school, defensive football manager be the best person to recruit for an attacking ball playing modern football club and actually use the grass the play football on.

Agree Mick is past it as a manager but he had an eye for talent.

Being fair, Mick did bring in some great bargains- Mings, Waghorn, Bru and Mings to name but a few. So you could argue that with more money he would help to bring in some great players. But he also brought in a lot of dross which collectively cost the club a lot of cash.

Ultimately the direction that the club is going is completely at odds with the type of football Mick prefers. Even with cash, his style would still be direct and defensive.

The short answer is - no.

You better delete your opening post.

Our recruitment has largely been a success so why would you bring this self-obsessed pr1ck in?

Mings was a brilliant signing but i think the story went that russell osman's son, who was playing at chippenham with mings (?) told russell osman, who was working at the academy (?) about him. Osman said to mick let's get him in on trial and mick saw enough after half an hour to know he was worth 8 grand.

If anything, we should employ russell osman's son as non-league scout.
