Wes Burns probably submitted a letter. And MA submitted fan footage.

Vale have just fired Darrell Clarke on 09:05 - Apr 17 with 2723 views | ketton_itfc | Andy Crosby the stand in is no mug, managed them to promotion for 1/3 season whilst Clarke away last season. Just hope we get early goal….

Tho he has been given only about 36 hours (one off-the-cuff training session, really, given they are away) to prepare for the game.

Tho the wording of the statement suggests to me that some of the senior players may have been involved in making it.

Vale have just fired Darrell Clarke on 09:28 - Apr 17 with 2363 views | Sharkey | That's very sad, given what he has been through. The PV board are often held up as a shining example of good, sensible governance. This must really be a painful day for everyone at the club. I do wonder how much fans attribute their demise in recent months to the January departure of Connor Hall, once of Bury Town,to Colchester. He dropped down a league just to be closer to home.
Vale have just fired Darrell Clarke on 09:50 - Apr 17 with 2056 views | BigCommon | Their drop off has been quite concerning..Teams below them, Oxford, MKD, Cambridge are all picking up points and have a game in hand.. Couple more defeats for them, and they are right in the mix for bottom 4... They looked pretty safe a month or so back.. Can't blame their board for trying to do something about it. They are already in slight disarray. Can't see this doing them any favors in terms of Ipswich away, though. My thinking is, they've written this game off or just see it as a completely free hit. And hope they can muster the 3 or 4 points needed from their remaining other games.

Vale have just fired Darrell Clarke on 10:13 - Apr 17 with 1812 views | Churchman | Yet another attempt at ‘new manager bounce’ with just a few games left. I don’t understand it. The bloke got them promoted last season and given their resources, it was never going to be a stroll for them. Long term planning or a panic up? Given I doubt Klopp and Guardiola will be rushing to get their CVS in, panic. Strange old game football. It gets ever more Mickesque bonkers.

I think it was as much the assistant, who's coming in now, who got them promoted. Clarke was on compassionate leave for quite some time. Reading the statement , maybe it's a bit harsh to say they've 'got rid of him'. Maybe he too genuinely thinks that the players might respond better to his assistant. We don't know - maybe he offered to resign three weeks ago and they said 'give it another three weeks and see where we are'. We don't know.

maybe he just isn't focused and all parties agreed it's better for him to step away completely. Poor sod, hopefully he'll come back somewhere strong.

Clarke returned earlier than planned to see them over the line. They had gone on a run of eight wins from nine under Crosby, but then lost three on the bounce. Clarke oversaw a win at Exeter on final day to get them into the play offs, then an aggregate win over Swindon before thrashing Mansfield at Wembley.
