Priskin in Hungary Squad
Priskin in Hungary Squad
Thursday, 28th Jul 2011 07:28

Town striker Tamás Priskin has been named in the Hungary squad for their friendly against Iceland in Budapest on Wednesday 10th August. The call means the 24-year-old will miss the Blues’ Carling Cup first round tie against Northampton at Portman Road the previous day.

Manager Paul Jewell is likely to have a very much depleted squad for that game with Damien Delaney already named in a provisional Republic of Ireland party and plenty of other players likely to receive similar call-ups with a full programme of international football being played.

Priskin has previously scored eight goals in 33 games for his country. Town’s Márton Fülöp is not one of the three keepers named by coach Sándor Egervári.

Scotland has been very good in training by all accounts, whether he can transfer it into games only time will tell.

Fulop has dropped right out of the squad then. Did someone say he is our highest paid player? Another terrible Keane signing.

But, Mark, one of Roy's mates told him he was good, so he had to spend a lot of money on him... (What a waste of two years the Keane era was.)

The lad has talent. He does not score enough goals, but that may be confidence or it may be we don't play to his strengths. I don't think you can just dismiss him because we have Chopra and Jet now. He is our mini Berbatov ... though without the goals his seeming lack of commitment to a battle is probably even more frustrating.... but he could offer a way to open up some defences that our primary strike pair can't find. I think he will be an occasional striker than a regular - but who knows?
