Murphy Move Done

Striker Daryl Murphy has completed his season-long loan move from Celtic. The Blues announced that the 28-year-old was returning to Portman Road for a second loan spell last night with the paperwork having gone through today.

Murphy could make his 'second debut' when Town take on Leeds at home on Saturday.

Welcome Daryl. I am pleased to have him at Ipswich, as he can add physical presence up front which is something we definitely need. I wouldn't have wanted to pay around £1M for him, which was the figure quoted a year ago, but a year's loan (presumably with a small loan fee) seems sensible. 6 goals in 18 at Ipswich last time was good going. If he can repeat that ratio over the rest of this season he'll net 14 goals and I'm sure we'd all be pleased with that!

As excited about this signing as Jimmy! Dont forget he looked a constant goal threat in a struggling Roy Keane team. Think he will be a great foil for Chops. I hope JET raises his game to what he is clearly capable of and if he does I dont envy Jewell chosing his strikeforce ( dare i dream of three up top!!!!) COYB

Going to get slated for this but.......the bloke can actually do the hold up thing that Keane and now PJ want. The only other player to be able to do that was Rory Fallon ( puts helmet on and cowers).

excellent addition to the squad, adds vital versatility up top, and despite everyone saying he's gonna play up top with chops, i can see him occupying the left wing role at least for the next few games while martin's out, keep carson on the right and keep JET up top, cos i think we will all agree JET is 10 times the player in the middle than he is out wide!! once martin's back from suspension (and back in favour with Jewell!) i think we're gonna have some serious competition for places up top, which can only bode well for the team and for results!! COYB!

We know he's a good player. He's got everything to play for. This should work. That said at the moment he is only a squad player and we shouldn't expect too much too soon. Besides strikers need the ball in the areas they like. Jimmy should help but it may take time to gel. 10 goals this season would be good plus numerous assists for Chopra.

As said before he must prove that he is better than anyone we have at present; we don't want the under-achieving performances of Priskin and Scotland to be repeated. This is probably his last chance saloon but at his age he should be achieving more. This is his chance.

Decent signing..think it was glaringly obvious that we've lacked a big target man to play up alongside Chopra..hopefully he can recapture the form he showed in his first few games last time he was here.

Any news on ditching Leadbitter yet? (please God).
