Collins Deal All But Done
Collins Deal All But Done

Stoke defender Danny Collins’s loan move to the Blues looks set to go through this afternoon with only paperwork remaining to be completed. Earlier today, TWTD was first to reveal that the 31-year-old was set to join the Blues before Saturday’s game at Blackpool.

Once the formalities have been completed, Collins will make his debut at the centre of the defence against the Seasiders.

Collins is set to sign on at Portman Road for 93 days having been omitted from the Potters’ 25-man Premier League squad.

xxDowson - just the right wording!

93 days = 14 games = another piece of a winning jigsaw puzzle. Hurry PJ and fit them in the correct place.

whether you are for/against the loan system this proves that 1. PJ can attract the right quality of players and 2. ME/Cleggy have upped the commercial game and as I have said before the wage structure has had a dramatic shift.

Provided we're not paying his £25k a week wages in full, then I'm perfectly happy with this signing. Just need a right back now..

Priskinftw - Obviously you are a knowledgable footy fan....

Wayne Bridge is as lefty as it comes....

Unless we can attract a proper defensive righty. stick with Carlos instead eh? ;)

Well done Mr Clegg, lets hope that these investments can turn it around and get us back in the big time for you, Mr Evans and all the loyal supporters.

I'm more knowledgeable than fergusons face, but i'm sure he wouldn't mind switching to right back just to get some game time

As I said, we need a 'right back' desperately. Sure up the defence and goals will come.

I would look at David Wright again and am bemused as to why we let Rosenior go, he looked decent in the games I watched...

What do you expect it was Keano....
Rosenior wasn't irish and he hadn't played for sunderland in his career

But Collins with Sonko in defence, experience, premier league quality, how longs it been since we didn't have an irish player in defence?

I wish PJ could find a right footed version of Cresswell to play at right back

London_Blue added 16:26 - Sep 9
I didn't see Sonko at Leeds, any feedback? What about Collins (if he comes) with Ingamarsson?

London_Blue added 16:28 - Sep 9
I see Lisbie's signed for Leyton Orient!

Wayne Bridge at right back? Laughable, sorry.

If Sonko isn't 100% then should be Ingimarsson and Collins as Ingimarsson should be fit now. Plus Ingimarsson and Collins would see a return of a solid right foot/left foot combination at the back.
