Andrews in Contract Termination Talks at Blackburn
Andrews in Contract Termination Talks at Blackburn
Wednesday, 25th Jan 2012 11:48

Former loanee Keith Andrews is reported to be in talks with his current club Blackburn regarding the termination of his contract. The 31-year-old has 18 months remaining on his lucrative deal but doesn’t want to play for the Ewood Park club again.

Wigan are understood to be heading the race for the Ireland international’s signature, while Blues boss Paul Jewell admitted that with Premier League clubs interested, Andrews is unlikely to be returning to Portman Road. Leeds United are also being linked.

Meanwhile, Crewe midfielder Nick Powell is concentrating on his game despite all the talk about his future with the Blues understood to have made an unsuccessful offer for the 17-year-old last week: “People tell me about speculation but I just try to ignore it.

“I am a Crewe player and want to do well and hopefully get the club into the play-offs. That’s the aim. At this stage of my development it is important to be playing week in, week out.

“There is a learning process to go through, physically and mentally. This is the best club for me now.

“I am hoping to add a lot more to my game. I hope to score more goals — I am aiming for 12 this season.”

The Railwaymen continue to claim Town haven’t made a bid, while the Blues are not believed to have made a second offer for the England U18 international so far.

Elsewhere, former loanee Giovani Dos Santos is in advanced talks with Villarreal with his unhappy spell at Spurs finally appearing to be coming to an end.

And finally, there seems little likelihood of reports of Town loan interest in Manchester United's Michael Owen having any substance to them.

Knowing that we need players in desperately, especially defence and somewhat midfield it's so frustrating in that so far all we've done is brought in a dodgy loan keeper!
Where's your money Mr. Evans, if you're not going to sack Jewell then give him some money and stop all this loan and signing has beens on frees which I know Andrews was a loan, but he's not a has been and definately the better of our loan signings.

Andrews too expensive and Powell too good for ITFC

Why sign anyone at all we will only turn half decent players to crap within 6 months with the poor backroom and training set up we have at this once great club of ours... a massive change is needed at this level not all down to the manager, but he will prob lose his job over it.........

I can only imagine Clegg is very confident about some of these deals coming off. A squad that included Collins, Stockdale and Andrews is just above relegation and it appears we are struggling to bring in 3 nippers. Perhaps the club deserve more credit than many of us are giving them and are doing a good job of keeping their work quiet. Could Billy Sharp be a possibility being sorted in the background ?

BossMan - I'd like to think so. But knowing our usual transfer policy (throw lots of money at average players and not put enough money into decent payers) under Evans and Clegg, I very much doubt it...

In a week's time the transfer window will be closed and we still haven't signed anyone or had any bids accepted. This is worrying when we are in such a serious situation, especially given how poor we were even when Andrews, Collins and Stockdale were in the side! Ipswich fans badly need some positive news at the moment, a signing, a win from somewhere, news of going for a Grade One academy...

No news bulletin.

Why should Evans keep "investing" money in the club? Is this money coming from the profits the football club generates, or is it from elsewhere? Why does he come under criticism constantly for, as far as I can see, not throwing limitless amounts of his money at the club for our benefit?

As the transfer window slowly closes we bid farewell to the Championship and hello to League 1.

Collins, Ingimarrson, Andrews, O'Connor, Lavery, Priskin- all outfield players-gone.
McCarthy (GK)-in
And we have 6 days left to replace them.
Methinks Kennedy, Whight, Ellington and Ainsley are going to get a lot of games between now and the end of the season.
We need to replace SIX outfield players in reality. Yes, SIX.
Don't know why we are allowing Murray out on-loan.

while i too find it frustrating that no signings have been completed, i dare say fans of many clubs will be feeling the same. can anyone on here name more than a few sides whove actually signed anyone in this window. the facts are that most deals are done in the last couple of days anyway. plus for those who seem to think we take longer than other clubs to sign players. RUBBISH.its just that we only hear of other clubs signings in the final stages of that happening, im sure the fans of other clubs think exactly the same thing. the fact is that transfers take longer these days due to agents & the amount of paperwork that has to be completed. plus of course, you cant sign anyone til your bid is accepted, & that is entirely in the hands of the selling club

I think Evans and clegg will be stupid not to make any signings in the transfer window as season ticket renewals are fast approaching. Most fans will need to see the owner/ceo of the club showing a positive step before paying Out £400 per ticket. I know i will before i splash out £800 on two.

Carson is a good player and I can't blame him for being bafffled.

Another dubious decision by Jewell.

Murphy is just average at best and he isn't even our player.

First time I have typed this but here goes........ JEWELL OUT

Owen on loan? Certainly fits the bill age wise and being injury prone. Him and Chopra together... I think I'll set myself up as a bookie.
