Carson Wins Cap in Heavy Defeat
Carson Wins Cap in Heavy Defeat
Saturday, 2nd Jun 2012 21:49

Town midfielder Josh Carson came on as a half-time sub and won his third full Northern Ireland cap as his side was hammered 6-0 by Holland in Amsterdam this evening.

Robin van Persie and and Ibrahim Afellay netted two goals apiece and Wesley Sneijder and Ron Vlaar once each.

Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk was hardly flattering about the Northern Irish side after the game: "I'm satisfied with the execution of our tactical plan today but the score means little to me as they were very poor opponents.”

What a twonk!

Well done Josh. Being the same age as him makes me think how crazy that must have been, on same pitch as Van Persie, Sneijder, Robben etc. Ridiculous.

N.ireland were poor. Josh did ok but coming on at 4 down is no easy assingment.

In Amaterdam & watched the game in a pub. Josh didn't get a lot of the ball but when he did was full of energy & looked up for it. Definitely needs more game time this season!!

Carson needs to get as fit as possible, have a good pre-season and push for the first team. Smith should be an inspiration to him.

Well Carson played when we lost 7-1 to Peterborough so there has to be more shame in that than losing 6-0 against the 2nd or 3rd best team in the world! Hope he has a good pre-season and gets 100% fit because hes got the potential to be a massive player for us

In defence of my feeble footballing nation, we had 9 withdrawals from the squad, all of whom would have played...with Evans, McAuley & Hughes in defence, Brunt & Davis in midfield and Lafferty upfront, we may have kept the score to 3 or 4...

On another note, Andrew Little was the best of a bad bunch for us. He's going on a free transfer from Rangers if the administrators don't give him a contract, he's got pace and can play defence, midfield or up front (better attacking to be fair). We should be having a look.
