Town midfielder Josh Carson came on as a half-time sub and won his third full Northern Ireland cap as his side was hammered 6-0 by Holland in Amsterdam this evening.

Robin van Persie and and Ibrahim Afellay netted two goals apiece and Wesley Sneijder and Ron Vlaar once each.

Dutch manager Bert van Marwijk was hardly flattering about the Northern Irish side after the game: "I'm satisfied with the execution of our tactical plan today but the score means little to me as they were very poor opponents.”

ulstertractor added 16:50 - Jun 3 In defence of my feeble footballing nation, we had 9 withdrawals from the squad, all of whom would have played...with Evans, McAuley & Hughes in defence, Brunt & Davis in midfield and Lafferty upfront, we may have kept the score to 3 or 4... On another note, Andrew Little was the best of a bad bunch for us. He's going on a free transfer from Rangers if the administrators don't give him a contract, he's got pace and can play defence, midfield or up front (better attacking to be fair). We should be having a look.
