Kenny Latest Keeper Link
Kenny Latest Keeper Link

QPR’s Paddy Kenny is the latest keeper to be linked with a move to the Blues. The 34-year-old is expected to leave Loftus Road this summer with Leeds, managed by his Bury and Sheffield United mentor Neil Warnock, previously mentioned as his likely destination.

The Blues are said to be planning to make a £500,000 offer for Halifax-born Irish international Kenny, who has a year remaining on his contract.

Warnock, who signed the 6ft 1in tall keeper from non-league Bradford Park Avenue when manager of Bury, then took him Sheffield United and QPR, had been tipped to sign Kenny again this summer.

However, with talk of a possible takeover at Elland Road, the Whites are currently short of cash and were unable to complete their move for Portsmouth’s Joel Ward, who eventually joined Crystal Palace rather than Leeds or Town, who were also amongst the interested parties.

Town are very much in the market for a new number one with released Manchester United keeper Tomasz Kuszczak top of Paul Jewell’s wish-list but with top flight clubs in England and Germany also interested.

Watford’s Scott Loach, Manchester United youngster Ben Amos, former Aston Villa man Brad Guzan and Birmingham’s Colin Doyle have all also been linked.

Can't see him going anywhere but Leeds.

He's a good keeper but has games where he doesn't seem to turn up, I've seen him not perform too well at times for QPR this season and I'll always remember a few years back when we stuffed Sheff Utd 5-1 at PR, it really wasn't a 5-1 game, in fact it was only Paddy Kenny who kept the score to 5-1, any other keeper on another day and the scoreline could have been 2-1. Absolute 'mare springs to mind on that occasion.
Not for me though.

Been wondering how long before PK got a mention. I personally would be quite pleased to see him come to P R .Been around a while though as has been pointed out,so dont think it would take long before people were on his back if he slips up .

He will go to Leeds. This story is just nonsense and should not be reported.

Interesting to see Leeds are short of funds. One of the best supported teams in the division and they are feeling the pinch. With the fair play rules coming in, they were one of my favourites for top six this year. Oh dear - hope they have not been mismanaged again.

Would take Kenny.

If he's cheap, sign him up to 2yr contract. Vastly Experienced keeper who still has the ability to excel in this league.

Was also the starting keeping in the career mode of Fifa Street 2, a sign of excellence if there ever was one.

£500K for a 34 year old? No thanks. Although signing a permanent keeper is key, we need someone who can play for several seasons - I don't think Kenny is that man. Need to be looking at 28-30 year olds tops.

Having said that, he has been a good keeper - bit emphasis is on 'has been' - PJ signed too many of those last pre-season ... and apparently has learnt his lesson.

Not sure about kenny he's a good goal keeper but I would rather loach or guzan or Doyle. A lot younger and more of a prospect.

Always been an above average keeper at this level, so is a decent option imo.

I don't think we need to concern ourselves as to whether we will or will not sign this guy. Don't get me wrong I would love him but no way will we pay the wages that go with him. I await the next link.

When I saw the headline I assumed this could be on a free transfer, which may make sense as Kenny has been a good Championship keeper for years. Then I saw £500K fee mentioned, madness! Players over 30 need to be exceptional to spend a fee on them, as we know we will never get a penny of that back so it is dead money. We need to start buying cheap and selling expensive, and that means young players.

This would be fantastic.. I don't think he is a particular fan of our support when we continuously chanted 'cheat, cheat, cheat at him and he made a gesture at us when they beat us 2-0 at loftus rd a few seasons back though.
Although water under the bridge, sign him up.

No thanks, either Loach or Heaton. Both are young enough to have a few years left in them, both are good keepers and one is also an Ipswich fan so would wear the shirt with pride.

A few years ago possibly but has looked less than comfortable recently.

I certainly wouldnt be paying a fee for him and will not be sorry if this is just another story that 'goes away'!

I was just standing next to Kenny as he dropped a party bag of frozen sausage rolls at the Iceland on Crown Street. I was buying apples. He also had a £3 BBQ assortment. He held onto that though. I guess we shall wait and see...

He is a former fatty. Just saying!
