Town Set to Land Chambers
Town Set to Land Chambers
Wednesday, 4th Jul 2012 16:50

Town appear increasingly likely to complete the signing of former Nottingham Forest skipper Luke Chambers, who underwent a medical and held talks at Portman Road yesterday. The 26-year-old returned home to Nottingham last night with rumours circulating that the move would break down with Leeds and a number of other clubs also believed to be interested.

However, it appears Leeds, whose takeover is believed to be close, have not firmed up their interest in the former Northampton man, who is available on a free transfer, his Forest deal having expired at midnight on Saturday.

As per reports earlier today, it seems Chambers returned home merely to take his time before making what is a big decision.

While a deal may not be done in time for Chambers to join the squad for the first day of pre-season training tomorrow, we understand the deal could well be completed by the end of the week.

"Keane was Clegg's fault - two days after he was himself appointed? Think you're misremembering! "

Not misremembering, maybe you are misunderstanding the role of the CEO -check the comments made by Clegg on the club's website regarding Keane's appointment. Also note Clegg's inability to replace Keane long after he had proved he was not up to the task.

The buck stops at the top. Sadly our CEO seems as unwilling to accept any responsibility and unable to do anything much to improve things either.

I would love to be shown any area where things have improved since he has been here, bar the newly painted turnstiles.

AndyStannard - I don't think he had a great season last year but under Billy Davies he was outstanding! Watched him play in the play-off semis against Cardiff and he won everything!

Not sure anyone ever really shines under MCClaren do they!?

Why cant we just simply sign players like every other club? There always has to be this stupidity and never ending drama attatched like never before, also this Kourouma ,How good is he?He didnt exactley set the world alight in France and by all accounts is a lazy so and so yet everyone thinks he is the next Pele. These are the same people that were cooing when we signed Nathan Ellington last pre season, enough said I think.

Dozzelsbobble hat, as always a fair and accurate post, its a fact too many people take a view of things and will not be budged regardless of the facts, they dont even need to to know any truth at all b4 they start to peddle there anti Evans/Cleggs/ Jewell remarks.

Its not about opinions, its a total onslaught towards anything the club does, the williams employment for instance, too many had a negative word on that, i think the club is to be applauded for thinking outside the box.

Some people, i wonder if they realise, they are doing no good at all for the cause of ipswich town, negativity spreads. I wonder if sometimes potential players read this site? But then to the negatives they wouldnt care if that gives them some more ammo to fire at the club.....COYB

@ Kerry Blue,

Hey man. Good to see another Irish Blue in here. Im not far from Kerry myself, Limerick/Kerry border.

As for Koruouma, very little is know about the lad. Lets not judge him just yet until we actually see him play/ settle into the club. Its a big move for a young foreign player, lets give him and all the new players a chance first.
