JET: Fans Shouldn't Be Stressed Over Pre-Season
JET: Fans Shouldn't Be Stressed Over Pre-Season
Monday, 30th Jul 2012 14:10

Town midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has urged fans not to be too stressed about pre-season, despite the Blues having lost 2-0 to Luton on Saturday. The former Arsenal man says he expects “big things” coming Town’s way when the season proper begins.

The 21-year-old said: “This season I can feel big things coming our way #TractorBoyz.”

He added: “Twitter is hilarious the things people say on here lol #Unbelievable.”

“Living outside your means #NotCool,” he continued, presumably making reference to criticism of Town's lack of spending so far this summer.

The former England U17 and U19 international says fans oughtn't to get too concerned over pre-season results: “Some fans worry me, stop stressing over pre-season and f****** support your team properly while we prepare for the start of the season #Mugs”

After some negative comment regarding that tweet, he added: “99% of fans understood the tweet, there’s just 1% that can’t seem to think and just be sensible about it #LeaveItYeah.

“I will soon stop interacting with fans and be like some others ballers and just ignore the tweets I get. And then who will the mugs talk to? lol.”

Young people sure do enjoy using their twitter machines. I think I may have to start paying more attention to this modern form of communication.
Perhaps I'll even get myself signed up for that Facetube thingy.

Brotherblue1974 - Give the guy a break. He is still young and will learn that consistency is required. Lets face it, if he was consistent and the finished article, he wouldn't be playing in the Championship.

Oh Phil, you didn't have to include the hashtags!

JET's not wrong, but he didn't have to be quite so insulting to the fans that pay his wages.

I for one am not stressed over pre-season ... my slight concern is about the direction we have been going under both Keane and Jewell at a relatively big club in the division.
Doesn't mean I don't get behind the team 100%, same as the majority of us town fans.

As a footballer, idiots on social media sites are to be expected and JET hasn't dealt with this well. I know he's young but I think he's out of order for reacting this way, mainly for the reasons Brotherblue and Garv mentioned. He doesn't give enough effort and the fans have a right to moan as they pay his wages!

I totally agree Garv, look at the rubbish the fans have had to put up with.
And we cant even pick up a good result against Luton. Not as if we put out a youth team. Its just not good enough....

Oh shut up... If the majority of Town fans weren't complete idiots (BROTHERBLUE1974) then JET wouldn't have to come out with that. He's done nothing wrong

Jet is an awesome tweeter, however there are some idiots who hide in the twittersphere and just sent pathetic comments. JRT knows this more than most just sometimes you bite and TWTD make the rest up. Surprised this article didn't lead to ITFC nearly signing Van Persie.

KEEP CALM AND SUPPORT ITFC

good for him to express himself without having to stick to saying certain things so as not to upset everyone. half the stuff footballers say is all nonsense they have to say just to please the fans in post match interviews etc.
nice to see some confidence aswell from JET, and hopefully his prediction of big things won't be far away from the truth.

Ipswich crazy2011, only wanting best for this club and him insulting the fans isn't the way to go about. The bloke will jump ship as soon as he can any way.

Having seen the above transcripts, I feel that JET SHOULD be like other "ballers" and ignore the tweets he gets!

If he is going to insult people by swearing and calling them mugs, and cause derision and a divide in the support, (no matter how justified or harmless he thinks it is) when we all need to get behind the team at this time, then it is for the best.

Hasn't his former team-mate Frimpong, been punished for abusing twitter? I hope the error in his actions are pointed out to him by the club, (not punished just warned) and then he can concentrate on being the player he and we want him to be, but as Beanie6101 says, if he was good at defending and was more consistent, he would still be at Arsenal!

BROTHERBLUE1974 I disagree, he was not insulting the fan, he was just stating hes getting fed up of these moaners panicking over pre-season lose, it was our first lose! No need to get on his back! If you are then you must be panicking!

99% of fans understood the tweet. One of the few tweets of his I ever have understood!

He's right. Some fans don't deserve to be called fans. If we lose week in week out in competitive games, then you can moan, losing 2-0 to Luton in a friendly is not an issue.

Agreed - but it works both ways; can't get excited with a win at Cambridge either - which a number of people on here did!

It's not the result at Luton which is the concern, more the manner of it; two soft goals and a poor first half. Pretty much the same as last season. These issues need to be addressed by PJ and quickly - 18 months is long enough to stop these failings.

Still looking forward to the season though - but still think we need at least three new players.

I completely agree with JET over this one. If people are already moaning and complaining before the season has even started what chance do the team have of getting ANY confidence going into the 2012/13 season. We saw last year what a difference confidence makes; loosing streak followed by unbeaten streak followed by loosing streak etc...

BROTHERBLUE1974 seriously? bringing up games that happened a year ago? Do you actually want the team to move forward, learn from mistakes of the past and look to the future?

If you never support the team then you can't class yourself as a supporter. The clue is in the name.

People are stressing because for some of them the football club is there livelihood, many people have had season tickets for years and so they're anxious to see the club succeed, that's not moaning to me that's people who are concerned for the club. Its like a parent nagging their child, it annoys the child but they're concerned about the child, weird comparison i know. I agree that worrying over pre season is a bit over the top but the fans know the club they've had to sit through six seasons in the Championship with some crap signings and watching some players not give there all, so of course there is going to be immediate pessimism if you lose to a Conference side. I'm probably looking too deeply into it but you have to respect both sides of the situation.
