Mohsni Confirms Town Talks
Sunday, 9th Sep 2012 23:23

Blues target Bilel Mohsni has confirmed that he is to hold talks with Town regarding a move to Portman Road. On Monday, TWTD revealed that the 25-year-old would be spending the week training with Town.

According to a report this morning, the Southend defender was set to speak to the Blues about the switch today, a deal which would be an initial loan with a view to a permanent contract in January.

“I am waiting to find out what will happen and I'm due to hold talks with Ipswich soon, so I'm hoping something can be agreed.

"Hopefully it can be done quite quickly too because I want to be playing again,” Mohsni told the Southend Echo.

In addition to the versatile Shrimpers centre-half, striker or winger agreeing personal terms, the clubs would also have to negotiate a fee, something which may not be a formality.

Last month, Southend turned down an offer of £150,000 from West Ham, with whom Mohsni spent most of pre-season on trial.

The Parisian has a year left on his contract at Roots Hall but has been told he won't play for the League Two side again having failed to show for the start of pre-season training.

From Saturday, Football League clubs have been able to sign players on 93-day loans.

Good spot Sindre, could be our secret weapon.

Stick him on the bench, bring him on to create havoc in any position!

Can see it now, Jewell turning to Hutchings...

"Chris, unleash the Drognelka..."

Never heard of the bloke! Hopefully he's at least better than Smith is. Sounds an interesting player, never heard of a player that plays in several positions! Hopefully he's a Beattie that comes out of defense and takes everyone on and scores ;-)

Appatently has the same kind of temperament as Paulo Di Canio. Worth the entrance fee that.
Anyone remember Manuel Thetis?? He was the last nutter we had and was great to watch.

When he is playing well, he is by far the best player at Southend, but if things go wrong he is a liability.
He isnt afraid to clatter forwards in or out of the box and has given many many penalties away.
My worry is that it is a big step up in standard and his temperament will be tested.
Someone get him an alarm clock as well, as it broke at SUFC.
Overall we have nothing to lose, but he has creates this situation so beware the ego!

Play him up front and forbid him to go into our own box? Anyway, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise - always assuming he signs of course.

"...something which may not be a formality."

That's a fair comment in relation to ITFC! Don't assume we have signed him yet as agreeing a fee and personal terms are big hurdles to jump given how so many of our signings have broken down. Fingers crossed on this one as I think he could be an interesting signing to add to the squad, but probably not the answer to our centre back situation in himself.

Nice to see nothing has happened in the loan window since going on holiday to Rhodes, Southend I mildly support behind us and have a couple of friends who watch them and yes on his day he can be good but as others have said has that latin temperament, been sent off a couple of times I believe.

Nice to hear we seem to be trying to sort all bases before we loan him. Saves the time wasting we did in the past with the likes of Andrews.
Fingers crossed

Re. the fee not being a formality. If we're in talks with the player, doesn't that imply that a fee has been agreed?

I'm more interested in this signing than the Boyd one to be honest but that's my view. But we do need someone who's not afraid to get in hard and ruffle a few feathers but as long as its in a passionate way for the club and not a violent way . COYB

Mohsni, why the long face?

Tomorrow's headline will read "Town unable to agree terms with Mohsni".

seems to take ages for ITFC to do anything these days 'it's the Clegg affect' .. the waiting for final days of loan window doesnt wash with me, as training days are important.. our defence is still fragile.. if we dont get a decent CB in, may as well put Gunnar in as it wont get any worse : /

In the mid-ninties didn't we have Aboo on loan and I think he was French. As well as Thetis and La Pen.

If a Premier League team wanted to take him on then he must be a pretty good player. His temperate may be a bit suspect but we need a bit of passion to get everyone going.
