Campbell Deal Closer Than Mohsni
Thursday, 4th Oct 2012 21:14

TWTD understands that Town are hopeful of securing the loan signing of QPR striker DJ Campbell on loan on Friday and in time for Saturday’s live home Sky game against Cardiff City (KO 5.20pm). The deal to sign Southend centre-half Bilel Mohsni, who TWTD revealed had returned on trial earlier today, is further from completion, despite the Frenchman’s hopes that he would sign a three-month loan tomorrow.

As reported a week ago, Town wanted to sign 30-year-old Campbell ahead of the Barnsley game as cover for the injured Paul Taylor and then-sidelined Michael Chopra, but they were rebuffed with a switch to the much-travelled frontman’s former club Blackpool having been on the cards.

But with little progress on that deal, the Blues renewed their interest and the Hammersmith-born striker looks set to put pen to paper at Portman Road on Friday.

While Mohsni has said he is keen to join Town on a three-month loan, almost certainly with a view to a permanent switch in January, we understand that the clubs are yet to agree terms regarding the move and the Frenchman appears unlikely to be signed in time for Saturday.

lets hope we get both , preferably for saturday but both are unlikely to figure in the team unless moshni plays as a winger but then we have a few of them anyway ( carlos martin jet murphy at a pinch ) . Maybe get him to partner DJ upfront and jason as super sub

Good signing today and hopefully two more tomorrow . This will be much needed depth that the team needs. After all we have one off the youngest teams in the league! A bit of experience always helps.

I think Campbell would be a good signing to add to the attacking options.

We can soon field a borrowed central defence (Higgingbotham, Moshni), an entire borrowed midfield (N'Daw, Wellens, Lunogo and Murphy) and a borrowed striker (Campbell). Well, except we can only field 5 at once I think.

what will campbell bring to our squad?...oh yeah...another "not quite good enough" striker to paper over the ever widening cracks.....I'm not too surprised though...we are not exactly an attractive proposition at the moment and haven't been for years!,,,if these players where any good they wouldnt be available for a loan 2 months into a season!!!

Agree with nitro, Campbell has hardly been a prolific striker so he's not really what we need but as you say, we're hardly an attractive option at the moment so who can we get?

How many loans do we want? So PJ is adding more "not going down that road again" players. When these players go back to their clubs we'll be stuck with our own players who PJ signed but doesn't think are good enough! No wonder confidence is shot! JEWELL OUT!!! Win, lose or draw tomorrow it won't mean to much as half the team won't be town players. Sooner out the better. JEWELL OUT!!!

Getting in a lot of loan players at this stage is not the answer and might disrupt a team that has looked better in the last two games. Should be focusing on securing Higginbotham for the long term and not bringing in strikers and midfielders.

Although it's another loan he is a decent player at this level so every little helps...COYB!!

Seriously guys, wake up, this is a great signing!

Sindre, if we signed Messi and Ronaldo on loan people would still feel the need to have a moan on here because its only a loan deal mate!

I might have to buy a programme on Saturday, for the first time in about twenty years, just to identify who is on the pitch in a blue shirt.
