Curbs Would Talk to Town
Friday, 26th Oct 2012 11:14

Former Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has said he would talk to the Blues if they wanted to speak to him. The 54-year-old is understood to be someone Town owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg see as a potential boss at Portman Road.

Curbishley told Sky Sports News: “I am available, obviously, and if they want to talk to me, I would talk to them.”

He says he’s surprised to see that his name is already up there amongst the favourites: “I am amazed when you look at the betting and I am up there with the frontrunners.

“Ipswich have been inundated with people who would like that job and I think they have a very important decision to make.

“The last two or three years have been tough as they have been in decline a little bit,” he added. “They have to take their time, sift through the people that are available and come up with the right answer.”

Curbishley’s long-time assistant Mervyn Day, who is currently working as a scout for Fulham, was at Tuesday’s home game against Derby and has also been at Portman Road for previous games this season.

Meanwhile, Town are remaining tight-lipped regarding developments on their search for a new boss with Clegg having said earlier in the week that he is hopeful a new man could be in place before next Saturday's game at Birmingham.

Looking at the bookies' favourites only, I'd say:

COULD BE WORTH APPOINTING
McCarthy (4/1), Tisdale (16/1), Coyle (18/1)

WORTH INTERVIEWING, BUT I HAVE RESERVATIONS
Curbishley (5/2), Burley (25/1)

I WOULDN'T INTERVIEW
Butcher (16/1)

DEFEINITELY NOT
Shearer (6/1), Megson (20/1)

Sorry fellow fans but I have the BEST idea:
Jamie Redknapp - not cos he's good - but we would get to see Louise Redknapp

ip5w1ch I'm with you on this. Perhaps he's just playing the who thing down. For all we know he may have already been spoken to. He has been very quick to rule himself out of other jobs, but not so here. Hmm .........

Miss out on Curbs for a third time and we'll all see each other again right here in 20 months time. Anyone who can't see that Curbs and Ipswich are a perfect fit don't know enough about either.

Seems whoever we get we're not going to please everybody but whoever it is let's all support him, there's been enough slagging off on here lately.

THERE ARE SOME VERY IRRETATING PEOPLE ON THIS SITE WHO GIVEN THE CHANCE WOULD COMPLETELY CONDEMN ITFC WITH THERE CHOICE OF MANAGER IT HAS TO BE JOE JORDAN THE ONLY MAN WHO QUALIFIES WHEN ARE YOU GONNA SEE REASON

Have had a look at the list of names on oddschecker.com and just the usual list of merry-go-round managers on there. One does catch the eye though at a juicy 14-1. Paul Tisdale Exeter manager, worked wonders on a shoe string budget, young and hungry and gets his team to play good football. Evans take note!

My only fear is we win a couple of games and they go the cheap way and leave things as they are
we need a new face now
remember what happened with Kean at blackburn
