Wolves Skipper Again Linked
Saturday, 15th Jun 2013 09:27

Town and Leicester City are chasing Mick McCarthy’s one-time Wolves captain Karl Henry, according to one of this morning’s tabloids.

The Blues boss is a big fan of Henry, who has been linked with Town on several occasions since McCarthy took over at Portman Road, however, the 30-year-old midfielder's lucrative Wolves contract runs for another three years and the reported asking price of £850,000 is likely to be well beyond the Blues at present. Leicester would currently appear a more likely destination.

Elsewhere, Town, Hull City and Blackburn Rovers are showing interest in Millwall keeper David Forde with the newly-promoted Tigers the favourites for his signature, according to Irish reports. The 33-year-old Ireland international has a year remaining on his contract with the Lions.

Some of this morning’s nationals also report Town offering terms to Wycombe winger Joel Grant and Tranmere keeper Owain Fon Williams, as reported by TWTD on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Blues, Crystal Palace, Doncaster, Blackpool and Millwall are all reported to have shown interest in 32-year-old Irish international midfielder Steven Reid, who is now close to agreeing new terms with his current club West Brom.

In agreement with my fellow posters above - not a player for us in my opinion.

However, what does bother me is the statement that at "£850,000 is likely to be well beyond the Blues at present". Does this means all we can look forward to is free agents and lots of loans yet again this season?

God i hope not. Think with Hyam and Skuse we have two ball winning midfielders already. We need to get some creative players around them now. Quite like the Forde link, he's been solid for Millwall and Ireland.

Most worrying part of this article is the £850k fee being beyond us!

i know its not just down to two players, but Wolves fans place a lot of blame on him and Roger Johnson for their demise.

No thanks - Stearman from Wolves and let that be it!

Im not concerned with any of this its now silly season and we will be connected to every player available on a Bosman. I have a sneaky suspicion that MM has already identified and approached who he wants and that we will be more than surprised by a couple of them.

Strikes me we are linked with every Irishman or Wolves player who becomes available. But unlike the 3 previous Town managers I feel Mick knows who & will get who he wants

Only Stearman fro Wolves. Get a creative midfielder who can play left, right and in the centre.

Given that we've been told that we will only be signing out of contract players then any fee is beyond us.

The real worry is can we compete on the wages front - that is where the real dealing will be done this summer.

We can't even afford 850,000 why are leister able to spend so much money under FFP? This worries me we must sell JET and Chopra

Cant understand why no one rates him,if there is a scrap of truth in this link he will be well known to Mick and Terry, dont we trust the judgement of the management team who got us out of the brown stuff now.

Someone on here thinks we can go into next season with just 4 midfield players!! how many did we use last season?

I don't want Henry but am really worried that we can't spend under 1 million on one player. I completely agree with free transfers but I feel we need to spend a little to get the quality required.

My take is that 850 K is beyond town because of his lucrative contract. I'm pretty sure Mick will be allowed to spend some money, not as much as many would like, but still. But I think transfer fees will only be spent on lower league players, with more reasonable wage demands. And with the numbers of quality free agents out there I'm not too worried. Town have made some very decent signings already.

More 'links'....no thanks, I think we're ok in the holding area of midfield, Skuse or Tabb could do that job.
