Williams Loan Extension Confirmed
Monday, 31st Mar 2014 20:47

Town have confirmed that Jonny Williams's loan from Crystal Palace has been extended until the end of the Championship season.

The 20-year-old Wales international's initial month with the Blues was up today but the Eagles have agreed to allow Williams to remain at Portman Road, albeit with a 24-hour recall clause.

As long as that recall isn't activated, Williams's spell with the Blues could be extended for a second time into a third month if Town reach the play-offs. Emergency loans are limited to 93 days, which would take Williams beyond the date of the final on Saturday 24th May.

Earlier today, Palace boss Tony Pulis said he would assess the fitness of Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle before making a decision on whether to allow Williams to remain with the Blues.

Williams made four starts and two sub appearances and scored once during a highly successful first month at Town.

Fantastic news! I think we have a real chance of making the top six if Williams stays to the end of the season, and if we could hold onto him into the play-offs who knows? It could be half price season tickets next year! ;-)

Very glad to see this has come about. But if this chap is not available for transfer at the season end who are you going to bring in to replace him Mick. He has walked into the side because we have no one like him, a ball of energy and a will to play the game.
Now that's entertaining the fans.
COYB's.

Hes an even bigger cult hero than Bullard was when he was here on loan

all that has to be said is this is bloody marvelous!!! he adds so much attacking threat and creativity to our play. Only thing will be how to replace this in the summer with little or no money, if we dont go up of course

This is fantastic news to celebrate. He has spark, bottle, enthusiasm and ability. Let's team him with Wordsworth when appropriate to create maximum effect and go for it!! Well done MM and the ITFC team responsible for getting this done.
UP THE TRACTOR BOYS!

Thought might get thru comments without a negative;but only one,as it is such GOOD NEWS that could make difference of (a)getting in playoffs, and (b) winning them.
Of course he could get called back;but the fact that we have got him for now,and possibly could retain him if he is still here at the end of the normal season is very positive news.
Mick obviously rates him highly for his skill and tenacity;so will obviously play him as much as possible. I hope but don't expect him to drop Skuse now he has put him back in ;but think Woody played well with Jonny and Skues didn't have a very good game unlike Wordsworth previously.
I am sure most of us would like to see both these creative players together at the expense of a defensive midfielder who I think should be Skues as Hyam has more bite than the former Bristol City man, together with big Frank and SEB in place of Hunt and Anderson.
I shall now go to bed and may dream of Ipswich in the Premiership!!!

Radio Gaga- Taylor is not our saviour, if he's so good why doesn't he play, Williams has done more in 4 games than Taylor has done since we got him
