McCarthy: Taylor Won't Be Back - Full Stop
Saturday, 31st Jan 2015 06:00

Boss Mick McCarthy says striker Paul Taylor won’t return to Town regardless of whether he finds a new side before the transfer window closes on Monday. The 27-year-old hasn't returned to the club since his loan at Rotherham ended a fortnight ago and his agent is dealing with securing him a move elsewhere.

“He’s not back here,” McCarthy said when asked whether the £1.5 million signing from Peterborough had returned to Portman Road following his spell with the Millers. “And he’s not coming back.”

Have there been any enquiries regarding him? “I don’t know whether there’s any interest in him.

“I’ve left that with [his agent]. That’s not something I’m dealing with because he’s not coming back, full stop.”

Even if he doesn’t find a club before the deadline he won’t be coming back? “Correct.”

Taylor, who is understood to be the club’s highest-earning player on around £10,000 a week, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Asked whether the club will settle the remaining months of the striker’s contract, McCarthy added: “I’m not that interested because it’s not something I’m dealing with.

“He’s not coming back and his agent’s been dealing with it. It’s with him and Paul. He’s not coming back, full stop.”

Liverpudlian Taylor joined the Blues in August 2012 but suffered a serious foot injury in only his third game for the club.

He returned to action in the summer of 2013 but has played only a handful of games with McCarthy evidently not a fan.

Last season he spent time on loan back at Peterborough and he spent most of the first half of this season with the Millers.

The Capital One Cup defeat at Crawley in August is Taylor’s only appearance for the Blues this season.

To give Taylor some credit he was better than Finidi

Taylor better than Finidi? Hilarious. The sooner the last of the rubbish of the Keane and Jewell eras is out of this cub the better.

Doesn't say much for our wage structure that he is the highest earner at 10,000 a week!!! Would have thought the likes of berra, chambo and didz would be on more than that. Know Mick has never been a fan, but he really has hung Taylor out to dry. That's where his stubbornness is highlighted. 6 subs against milwall, he could at least have sat on the bench. We don't know what went on, but usually with Mick you get straight talking and honesty. Why doesn't he just turn round and say I don't like Paul Taylor as a person or a player and tell us the reason why

Finidi scored 9 in something like 40 games in the Premier League from midfield.

He was a very decent player and would have been a huge asset in the team that had finished 5th. He just wasn't the type of luxury player you could afford in a team fighting for survival, which is ultimately what we were.

Good. I suspect he could leave for free but would want his contract paying up first. ATM he's getting 10 k a week to sit on his arse and u reckon that suits. Paul Taylor just fine. Surely a relegation threatened L1 club would take him!?

Think this is a bit of gamesmanship by MM.

MM will launch Taylor against Wigan as our secret weapon. Wigan won't be able to deal with Taylor's magical skill and pace. maybe that's why the Sharp deal fell through? Taylor was back and with him our chance to relaunch our season. Top quality player: way better than Finidi ever was. Rather have a Taylor up front any day than Jonas the Axe, Sam Parkin, Nathan Ellington , Kevin Lisbie or Sam Parkin.

Did he sh@g Mick's daughter or something because MM's clearly showing a dislike for him as a player and a person. Definitely something must have gone on behind the scenes which we might find out about when/if Taylor leaves the club. I cant help thinking would his Town career had been a lot better had he not got that bad foot injury just after joining the club? I dont believe he is he highest paid player at the club either!

He's clearly a bad influence. How many other players under mock have been in pub punch ups? Mick knows the score!

He should have been sacked for gross misconduct when he was convicted for common assault. End of. As a professional footballer you have a duty to be a role model for all. Anybody see Michael Vaughn's attempt to put Luis Suarez into room 101 last night - he was spot on!

Ps I bet all the local suppliers who had payments due to them "restructured" in the last three of four years are delighted we pay scum like this and Chopra.......

Quite clearly a bad influence who Mick doesn't want anywhere near the first team squad. Taylor couldn't even get on the Rotherham bench at the end of his loan and clubs aren't exactly queuing up to sign him. All n all, mick was right to get rid. Just hope he and Evans sign some players before Monday as well. Can't afford not to name a full quota of match day players again. Not acceptable at any level.

Taylor = the rotten apple in the barrel. Hence why he's been told to stay away from the Club. He may have a talent. But he was never a team player. Even Rotherham didnt play him in the end and didnt want to keep him. Says it all really, and to underline his damaged goods label NO Club has come in for him.

I may be barking up the wrong tree, I don't know, but am I sensing some animosity from Mick towards PT. Am I the only one getting those vibes?

Taylor the highest earning player? Jesus Christ!

If Jesus Christ is our highest pail player ITFC why wasn't he on the bench at Millwall?

I bet Jewellio had a say in his wages, thinking that he had bought a GEM !!
Another one and a half million pounds of Marcus Evans money down the drain and on going wages to pay until he is rid of.

Dont pay him off. A Club will com for him and at least pay a couple of months salary. Gives Mick Money to find 2 New Mings!

A friend of mine ran into him in a night club when he had not long signed for us and he was a total bellend.

Ended up starting trouble, resulting in said friend pinning him to the wall by his neck and telling him, in no uncertain terms, that he needed to sort his life out if he was going be representing ITFC.

That incident told me all I needed to know about Paul Taylor as a person.

NB: This is a true story, not a classic 'my mate' tale. I hate people who do that.

We could by a Mings a week with Taylor's wages.
