Town Confirm Yorwerth Signing
Tuesday, 23rd Jun 2015 14:49

Town have confirmed that former Cardiff City central defender Josh Yorwerth will be joining the Blues on July 1st, as first revealed by TWTD in May. The 20-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at Portman Road, plus an option for a further season, having impressed while on trial towards the end of 2014/15.

Bridgend-born Yorwerth, a Wales U16, U19 and U21 international, was released by Cardiff in May having come through their youth system.

While on trial with the Blues he featured in the U21s games against Charlton, Bristol City - in which he scored - and Colchester.

Yorwerth, who is yet to make a senior appearance, will join up with the rest of the squad when they return to Playford Road for pre-season next week. He is likely to initially be viewed as a member of Mark Kennedy’s development squad.

Meanwhile, tickets to the pre-season friendly at Colchester United on Tuesday 28th July go on sale via Planet Blue and ITFC Direct from Thursday.

Samassiabou - Double down arrow for you - clearly a player for the future than a first team. Please keep comments like this to yourself.

Welcome Josh. All the best for your future with Town!

One the future maybe? Thought we were ok for cb's, it's other positions we need to strengthen!

samassiabou -

What a completely stupid and inconsiderate comment. Firstly, I'm intrigued to whether you have ever seen this lad play. Secondly, who are we to judge? Everyone said Chaplow, Varney and N. Hunt would do a dreadful job but yet they came in and contributed their fair share to the team. Idiot.

His pedigree suggests he knows how to play. I just wonder why Cardiff released him. Whatever the case, I reckon Mick, if anyone, is able to judge whether a defender has potential or not. And again - no transfer fee, so what's to not like?

How many times will it take people to read Samassiabou's post and notice the pun. . .

Oh dear, oh dear! Clearly the interbreeding of the Norfolk folk is creeping into Suffolk!! How have so many people failed to see samassiabou's post was purely a play on words?!

Just starting reading the comments on this and didn't know if paulthebluealien etc were joking as well! Clearly just a pun from samassiabou - well done lad! TWTD should make potential members take an IQ test...

Play on words are fine but when you read that it could hear the sarcasm. It would be more positive to say "Josh your worth to this team could be immense" admittedly that is totally cr@p but I am sure some of our wordsmiths on this site could pen something better.

ITFC1983 - I doubt that wordsmith would be Josh himself, judging by his tweet: "Delighted my deal has been confirmed at @Official_ITFC and I look forward to getting back too work next week! #ITFC"

"getting back too work..."

Anyway, he's here to play football I guess, rather than win any English Language awards, so welcome anyway and hope he proves himself for us and shows his worth so that Cardiff regret letting him go...

samassiabou - this is the funniest series of posts i have ever seen on here - i cant believe your pun was missed! You were even called an idiot! Brilliant!!!

Kirbmeister added 15:30 - Jun 23
And ITFC1983 is even critisising the way you constructed the pun!

Just a little (albeit very poor) play on words guys... I know nothing about the player, but knowing Mick I'm sure he's a promising young talent. Paul the blue Alien- Calm the fcuk down pal.....

Samassiabou, I thought it was quite droll.

Must have got it wrong but I thought this site was about football not 'clever' sarcasm or wordsmiths! Bearing in mind Mick always plays things close to his chest (thank god) I'm surprised he has signed someone already mentioned on here in May!! Definitely one for the future and I'm hopeful Mick will splash out on some 1st team additions soon - and for those wordsmiths that's an oxymoron!!!

I appreciate it Kirbmeister. And as for ITFC 1983 I apologise. Next time i devise a witty (or not so witty) pun. I will run it by you directly before hand to ensure it is "more positive" and in doing so ensuring it is up to your high comical standards.

They are only signings for the future if given a chance to play and improve , he will surely be 4th choice centre back or is Berra going to West Brom ?

Moscow_Blue added 16:07 - Jun 23
Is he right or left footed?

Kirbmeister added 16:08 - Jun 23
samassiabou - could be seen as positive though - worth a lot rather than a little!

I heard we only just beat a French team to the signing - L'orealnt (we really need the technology for an Andie McDowell voiceover to make that work), and I know Lorient are almost a UK team anyway, 'cos they're Britainny...

rickw added 16:12 - Jun 23
Not the signing we were all hoping for, but lets hope we've seen something that Cardiff have missed and he can become the next Mings (i.e. talented young player overlooked elsewhere)
