No New Injuries Ahead of QPR
Tuesday, 22nd Dec 2015 14:09

Town boss Mick McCarthy has no new injury concerns following Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Derby but with Jonny Parr, Larsen Touré, David McGoldrick and Teddy Bishop all still sidelined ahead of Boxing Day’s game against QPR at Portman Road. Midfielder Cole Skuse has had his nose realigned after breaking it in the recent game at Fulham.

“They’re all OK aside from Jonny Parr, who has still got a sore calf,” McCarthy said. “Larsen Touré’s out [with a groin problem], David McGoldrick is out [having torn a hamstring]. But from Saturday we’ve no other injuries, we’re fine.”

Teddy Bishop also remains out having suffered another setback as he looks to get over the hamstring problem which has seen him miss the entire season so far.

Luke Hyam has been recalled from his loan spell at Rotherham United and will go straight into the squad on Saturday.

McCarthy says Skuse will be OK having had his broken nose somewhat painfully reset: “He had it done yesterday. I think the guy doing it led him on a little bit and was going to do a bit of treatment on him and then suddenly grabbed his nose and straightened it, but I don’t think it happened the first time.

“I think Skusey had to apologise for his industrial language after the first one, and even more for the second when he did it again. No anaesthetic, no putting him to sleep. It was a cruel to be kind job.

“Anyway, he’s gorgeous now, he looks fantastic, his nose is lovely and straight and he’s looking as handsome as ever.

“He’ll be playing, he’ll stay out of harm’s way until Friday and he’ll play. He’s as fit as a flea, Skusey, I’ve no worries about him.”

He used to talk of Tabby in such glowing terms, no longer tho, it seems he's forgotten, is Tabby...

Parr is very injury prone, along with McGoldrick. I suspect both will not be offered new deals. If Bishop continues to be on the sidelines, which sounds likely, we should be looking to bring in an attacking option in January.

Am slightly concerned about the recurrence of the injuries to Bishop.

Without casting doubts over the abilities of policies of our medical team, what on earth is going on!

I understand that some of us have rather fragile frames but I'd expect him to be playing by now.

Don't worry Hoppy. At least Tabby still talks to you!

I wonder why he has recalled Luke Hyam from his loan spell? We have Bru, Douglas and Skuse for mid-field and there is also Fraser and Niles and Coke too. (And nobody could forget Tabby).

We have a great squad now, shame Bishop and McGoldrick have both had set backs.

@Bluebell

Hopefully MM has seen Hyam in action for Rotherham and feels he is ahead of some of the others in the pecking order. Let's not forget that Hyam was playing pretty much every game prior to his original injury - seems like a long time ago now!

It wasn't too far in the distant past that I gave Hyam a bit of stick for being overly defensive, unimaginative etc etc. Now, with a large portion of humble pie at the ready, I would not only welcome him back but also believe that he could offer us a little bit of that extra bite that we need.

I don't think either AMN or Bru have been on top form in the last couple of games so perhaps a reshuffle might be productive.

Apart from Bishop who is a long-term injury, Parr is the only other midfield injury, so who would the manager drop in order to play Hyam? As I recall he doesn't drop people unless they're injured and that's why Bart can't get into the team however poorly Gerks has played in the recent past. Maybe MM will change his selection criteria.

Anybody else think Parr might be thinking sod this im sick of being shafted here, i'll say its still sore and get Christmas off instead of training Christmas Day and sitting on my arse on Boxing Day while players with less ability than me play?

...... Jonny Parr has had an unfair time with us - of course he should have been in the team more than he has.

He will be well aware of that - and probably slightly pee'd off. Who could blame him ??

I hope for his sake that it was "realigned' a bit better than Mick's!

Parr is always injured hence why he can never stay in the team, also is he as good as many make out, some said not long ago we should build a team around Taylor, who of cause is pulling up trees this season. Don't get me wrong parr is a good player but not a great player.

Parr is not always injured, missed the first month or so last season and one or two games the rest of the season. Missed a few this year but hes no McGoldrick when it comes to being injured.
He may not be a great player but at this level he's a solid dependable fullback on either side.
Whenever he's played at fullback he's never let us down and as ive said on here time and again our best spell last year for both results and style was when he came in for Smith and Chambers moved inside. Him and Mings pushed on down the flanks and we played some decent football. But unfortunately for him he just isnt one of the favourites so will always be on the bench unless we are desperate.
Anybody that watches Chambers and Knudsen regularly cannot tell me he's not a better option than both of them, especially in a positional sense.

As Mick never changes his present team unless he has absolutely no option, expect it will be same team with same tactics even though games are coming thick and fast now?Jimmy Floyd will therefor be able to have plenty of time to work out tactics to beat us.Usually means putting a quickie down our right side against Chambo for starters.

Think Luke could squeeze a place on the bench though, hopefully at the expense of Giles Coke

Agree with JAS about need for creative player in midfield,as it is in this area where all the injuries seem to occur.
Think we can write off the Bish as a regular first teamer along with Didsy.

Bishop is having a horrendous season. Let's hope for the good of the team, he comes back 100% in new year

I remember when Steve Gerrard first broke into the Liverpool team at about the same age as teddy Bishop is now. He was forever injured and they said it was not uncommon for young players as they were still growing into their bodies. Liverpool looked after Gerrard like MM is looking after Bishop. Once he was properly fit and strengthened he was back in the team and hardly ever injured.

Fed up with same11 again. Please change it round a bit Mick. We can't seem to beat the top teams.
I noticed teddy bishop having a good time at the darts last night.
