Bialkowski Signs New Town Deal
Friday, 19th Feb 2016 14:48

Keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has signed a new contract with the Blues running to the summer of 2018 with an option for a further season. The 28-year-old, who joined Town from Notts County in the summer of 2014, revealed that he was close to putting pen to paper on new terms last week.

“Obviously I’m very happy to have signed a new contract,” the Pole told the club website.

“My contract was up in the summer [although Town had an option for another year] and I had a few calls about what I was going to do but I was only interested in staying at Ipswich and I’m looking forward to the future here.

“I have been pleased with my performances since I returned to the team. I have felt very confident and made some good saves but then that is my job really!”

Bialkowski, who previously had a stint on loan with the Blues on loan in 2009 when a Southampton player without making a senior appearance, is understood to have received interest from clubs in China.

The Braniewo-born keeper has been back in the Town side for the last three Championship games, following Dean Gerken's shoulder injury at Birmingham, and looks certain to keep his place having been in outstanding form in the QPR and Bristol City games in particular.

Good news. Hadn't realised his contract was up this summer. That's quite late

The club had an option for a further season, so no real rush to get anything done. Will add that to the story.

Very good news. Two decent keepers but Bart is the better keeper IMHO!

Good news. Doesn't let us down and says nice things about the club, which is what we fans appreciate.

I don't think he's a world beater and nor is Gerken. But they're better in goal than the guys who we have played in Central Midfielder this season are in that position, by a distance!

Where does Bart rate amongst these lot?

Kuszczak, Stockdale, Grant, Heaton, McGregor, Marshall, Westwood or Konstantopoulos.

Very good news, I think he is the best goalkeeper we have had for some time, probably since Kelvin Davis. Nine appearances this season and voted Man of the Match on this site in four of those! He was very unfortunate to lose his place and, at the age of 28, he could go onto become a very good first choice goalkeeper for the next few years I think.

Good.

Think if he hadn't signed this deal, and was subsequently dropped, could have gone the same way as Jonny Parr and Tommy Oar,which I think would have been a shame.

Look forward to him having another good game next week against Hull City, when he will have his work cut out against top of table side.

I have been going over 50 years now, more in hope expectation at present;but you never know.Whatever happens on the pitch am sure will enjoy pre match drink in Legends , with convivial company,as usual!

Keaneish- I believe he is better than Kusczak, Stockdale and Westwood, if not even Grant and Marshall. I'm not saying he's the best goalie in the league, but I'd put him up there. On his day at least

I rate Bart higher than grant personally Keannish. He's been second fiddle to Carson much of this season but when he has played he's made some costly errors. I think Westwood is the best keeper in the league and always impresses when I've seen him. Really happy with this news as Bart has been exceptional since he came back in. I also feel comfortable with gerken as back up as despite a shaky few games earlier in season felt he was playing very well before he got injured and looked fairly solid.

Planetblue let me educate you Bart is an occasional shoot stopper never a goalkeeper in a million year a real goalkeeper can catch any cross that comes into his box keeps a clean sheet most of the time dominates the back four, the list goes on Bart he is very ordinary. The two Clowns keepers we got got have let in 39 goals so far in the league

Easily our best keeper. Was disgusting how he didn't get back in the team after his father died. Gerk the Berk came in and was abysmal but MM stuck with him. He improved by playing but never convinces the crowd or his defenders, which is not good as that is easily the weakest part of our team.

Would still like to see a top keeper brought in with Bart as back up. Then we need at least 3 defenders and at least 2 quality midfielders plus a top striker to replace Murphy who is miles past his best.

Lit to do to challenge automatic promotion places next season.

But ... Oh no we can't get better than we have.

Kesgraveblue57, an average of 1.25 goals a game isn't bad. Are goals against is pretty much bang on for 8th place. You obviously didn't go to Bristol last week where Bart single handedly kept us in the game.

Derby123 - I'm a big fan of Westwood too. I think Jewell was sniffing around him some time back. Him and Marshall top that list for me.
