Hammond on Target Twice as U21s Win at Watford
Monday, 7th Mar 2016 16:05

Released full-back or midfielder Kyle Hammond will have impressed any watching scouts by scoring twice as Town’s U21s beat Watford 2-1 away in a game played behind closed doors at the Hornets’ training ground this afternoon.

The 20-year-old, who has been told his contract will not be renewed in the summer, lashed in a brilliant opening goal in the 10th minute but the home side hit back via Alex Jakubiak just after the hour mark.

The game looked to be ending in a draw until Hammond’s second won it for the Blues with two minutes remaining.

The former Westbourne High School pupil is interesting a number of clubs with Colchester United understood to be amongst them.

Piotr Malarczyk was the only overage player involved with the first team in action at Bolton tomorrow, while Andre Dozzell was in the team and therefore won't have travelled to the North-West.

U21s: Crowe, Emmanuel, Malarczyk, C Smith, Hammond, Blanchfield, Dozzell, Guldbrandsen, McKendry, Morris, McLoughlin. Subs: Marsden, Fowler, Downes, Meldrum.

Looks like Piotr is out in cold, although don't think he has really had much of a chance since he has been here.Nice for U21's to get another win though.

Seems McCarthy has a blind spot with young hungry strikers.

If Hammond can get himself a deal at Colchester, good for him.

I suspect Malarczyk will return to Poland in the summer. He reminded me a bit of Bajner both times I saw him, looking out of his depth. That's a bit of a surprise when he captained a side in the Polish top league, but there you go.

Sad to see you go Kyle, I bet you will be back to bite us on the Bum,We hope you get a good deal somewhere and make it to the top!
I think Ipswich are making a big Mistake in letting you go.
It's a Shame. They have their Favorites! And I feel sad it's like that at this once great football club.
Good luck Kyle.

Can someone please answer me why Emmanuel is above Hammond in the pecking order? A shame to see Hammond go but I'm sure with his attitude and skill he'll be fine

Emmanuel is another good player in waiting... like most footballers, needs to realise you haven't made it, even when you've made it
