Samuelsen Linked With Half-Season Loan Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2016 16:08
Norwegian sources are linking West Ham midfielder Martin Samuelsen with a loan move to the Blues until January with the possibility of an extension to the end of the season.
According to Tore Søyland of Norwegian TV channel Viasat Sport, Samuelsen is set to be loaned to the Blues initially on a half-season loan but with the potential for the switch to be extended to the end of the campaign.
Samuelsen played youth football with hometown club Vard Haugesund before being recruited by Manchester City as a 15-year-old.
After three years with City the 6ft 2½in tall winger or attacking central midfielder moved on to West Ham in June 2015.

He spent much of last season on loan at Peterborough, where he made nine starts and 11 sub appearances, scoring twice.
Samuelsen, who has made two Europa Cup sub appearances for West Ham, won his first full Norway cap as a sub in a 3-2 friendly victory over Iceland in June having previously played at U16, U17, U18 and U21 levels.
After signing a new four-year contract with the Hammers earlier today, the youngster said he'd welcome another spell out on loan.
“This season, I think it’s either going to be another loan or first team football for me at West Ham,” he told the official West Ham website.
“I really enjoyed my time at Peterborough United last season and to have another spell playing good football on loan somewhere would be great.
“Both options would be good for me, but one is tougher to achieve than the other! Whatever happens for me this year, I’ll go into it 100 per cent committed. My long-term goal is to get into the West Ham first team XI.”
Speaking yesterday, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he was "trying to get a couple more in" before the transfer window closes next week, additions he expected would be loans or free agents.
Released former Rotherham frontman Leon Best is currently on trial with the Blues and scored for the U23s in yesterday’s 3-2 defeat to Birmingham at Playford Road.

Got a couple of mates who are West Ham fans and both have said this kid is good player, and would do really well at this level, anything better than Skuglas is good IMO
Peterborough thought very highly of him, as do West Ham. Maybe he was a bit young and slight for league 1 football last year, he looks like he's got some filling out to do. Couple of occasions in that clip he could've done with getting the pass away a bit quicker but he's on iosuly got foot ability. Could be a good option off the bench.
Looks decent enough but Mick would probably play Grant before him on the left, could be the attacking midfielder we need, plus we do need a couple of signings and I would welcome Best, think he could be good for us.
I don't doubt that he is a talented footballer, but why can't we sign our own players?
I'm all for loaning players with a view to signing them permanently, but as is happening more often than not these days, it would be a loan to give him experience, before returning to Wet Sham a better player.
How may midfielders do we want Skuse,Bru,McDonnell,Ward,Grant,Bishop,Coke,Douglas,Sears,Dozzell and Hyam how do you fit another in that lot we are in dire need for a RB and a decent Striker just shows what a moron McCarthy is
Never seen him play in the flesh;so would normally not comment;but have seen 3 clips of him totalling about 10 mins, and it looks like a very good signing if it transpires, which I very much hope it will.
Mick set off last season with the intention of playing more attractive football I think; but after the thrashing by Reading 5-1,in September,he reverted to type, and hence the fall in season ticket sales.
We have yet to reach this point;but the signings so far have seemed a tad better than previously in quality, with more ball playing qualities;so am hopeful that his good intentions will continue longer this season than last, and some of the previous season ticket holders will return;especially with the new season ticket deal enabling selective choice of matches.
Nazemariner.Re the signing our own players, agree to an extent;but you would not get a player of this calibre, especially at the moment, bearing in mind that this young man Samuelson has today signed a four year contract with the Hammers.
