Boateng Turned Down Loan
Boateng Turned Down Loan
Monday, 2nd Nov 2009 09:04

Hull City midfielder George Boateng has turned down the chance to join the Blues on loan, according to a report on Humberside. The 34-year-old Dutchman has made only four Premier League appearances this season.

The Tigers are desperate to reduce their wage bill by selling players in January and loaning them out in the meantime. Boateng, whose contract is up next summer, reportedly earns £12,000-a-week at the KC Stadium.

Holding midfielder Boateng started his career with Rotterdam side Excelsior, moving on to Feyenoord and then Coventry, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough before joining Hull for £1 million in July 2008.

The Ghana-born midfielder has won four full international caps with Holland.

Meanwhile, Town's reserves are in action against Watford at Boreham Wood's Meadow Park this evening (KO 7pm).

Elsewhere, England manager Fabio Capello is set to unveil a sculpture of former Blues boss Sir Alf Ramsey at Wembley on Friday. The sculpture, by Philip Jackson, will be tunnel area of the stadium.

Sir Alf’s widow, Lady Victoria Ramsey, has backed the project: "The sculpture of Alfred looks outstanding and the unveiling at Wembley is very appropriate."

Surely that's not true, I hope Roy isn't trying to sign central midfielders!

I guess it's a case of needing a defender, a striker and any other player who is better than what we've already got. With loan players any player who is better than any fit player. I guess Boateng would take over from Liam Trotter in the team since Garvan seems to have been 'sent to Coventry' by Keane.

Shame, I think he would add the steel to the middle of midfield. Unfortunately Lian Trotter just isnt good enough.

He would have been a great addition to the side, with his experience, would have been a good midfield combo with him and Leadbitter

why another midfielder?
perhaps keen wants to put 11 out to confuse the enemy.

Why are you weirdos asking why a midfielder?? Its the main priority!! Trotter is no way up to it, neither are Colback or Healy, so until Norris is back we badly need a partner for Leadbitter.

Would have been perfect alongside Leadbetter until Norris is fit.

Quinn played well on Sat in CM when Trotter went off so until he gets someone decent i think Quinn should keep the job

agreed, Quinn instead of trotter and a shame we couldn't get boateng but it does show that RK does not see a future with Liam Trotter in midefield which is a good thing.

if you think the weakest part of this team is the midfield then we are watching defferent games.

Why are old 'has beens' turning down loan moves to come to Ipswich when they're not getting games at their own clubs?? Could it be that old pro's don't care if they play as long as they're on £12k a week, well that's just the kind of player we want
.......isn't it??????
As Cammy would say 'unbelieveable, unbelieveable'
Face facts guys, few want to play for Roy Keane and fewer want to come to a side that's bottom of the Championship!!!!
Oh and whilst you are free to disagree with me, lay off the personal abuse please!

"... according to a report on Humberside"

Slow news day amongst the papers again? I'm not reading too much into this!!

Devontractorboy , surely you are not suggesting that players dont want to play for ''Amiable Roy''!

We are all reacting the way we are expected to.
Anti Keanites, well obviously its his fault who wants to play for him?
Pro Keanites, well, we dont need him, he is over the hill etc.

Dobbie hit the nail on the head...
Its just lazy journalism, a report from Humberside etc...
Thats the problem, any news story on here, all its used for ai the 2 different factions to use it to further their own point of view.
We all support the same club, although in some cases i do wonder, lets react to definite "happenings" rather than speculation and gossip.

I do like the rumour mill, but lets all remember what a rumour is, and dont take it as a hard fact.

Scraping a 1-0 over a Derby team which had 16 players missing is just papering over the cracks..another 5 changes again on saturday..Keane's just chopped and changed until he's managed a win - anyone could do that..we are in a shocking state.

Boateng over-rated? Back in the day he was excellent and pulled the strings for Boro

No suprise that when he left they started to dip. He also figured in Hull's excellent start to the Premier league last season.

Whether he's still up to it is another matter altogether but certainly in his day I feel he'd have done a job for any of the top six clubs

Its just a space filler for a small northern newspaper, although he would of been nice alongside leadbitter.

Good player, would certainly do the job which has been put on young Trotter. Our back four needs that extra cover.

Now Roy said" Don' believe everything you read on website" (which I think was a dig at the journalistic integrity of this site ) but I hope this is true we need a striker not another sodding midfield player of ANY description!

Lightning Boy, you seem like you'd criticise anything so i'll probably choose to ignore your comments. Seeing as we've only lost one in 6 i think i'll take the positives from the game rather than make up negatives!

And dirtydingusmagee, personally i'd give anything to play for a treble winning player and Championship winning manager who's played under two of the games greatest ever British managers in Clough and Ferguson!

Shame. Would have been excellent cover until Norris returns. I have had a run in with many on this borad about Trotter - and although I totally understand he is a young player - the reality is he is not good enough at this level. It's not being nasty - I would like nothing more than Trotter proving me wrong, but I simply don't think he has enough quality about him to be a good player.

shame as he would have been a big help until Norris and Civelli are fit.
Still a good player and very smiley too!!!
