Former Manchester United Keeper Training With Town

Manager Roy Keane has revealed that his former Manchester United colleague Roy Carroll is currently training with the Blues, but says he has no plans to sign the 33-year-old goalkeeper. The Northern Irish international is currently with Danish side Odense.

Keane said: “Roy Carroll has trained with us today, he’s a friend of mine from the United days. He’s having a week or two with us, he’s on his mid-winter break in case you start jumping to conclusions.

“Roy lives in London and they’re on a mid-winter break, so he’s training with us before you all start thinking we’re signing him or he’s one of the targets.”

Pressed further on whether the Enniskillen man’s time at the club might become more than just training, the Blues boss added: “Not at the moment, no.”

Capped 19 times by Northern Ireland, Carroll was linked with a move to the Blues last summer, but dismissed claims of talks having taken place.

The former Hull, Wigan, West Ham, Rangers and Derby keeper joined Odense in the summer of 2009, signing a three-year deal and winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award in his first season in Denmark.

Got a feeling we will get a keeper on loan as Roy likes to have 3 keepers

Yes, I wondered whether Keane might sign a new keeper on loan to cover Murphy's injury. Roy does indeed like to have 3 keepers. Pity he isn't so keen on right-backs!

If RK is looking to sign a keeper with the same attributes as Murphy I suggest that he goes to Chantry Park on Sunday morning as that is where Murphy should be playing when fit!

It happens all over the ountry - players trying to keep fit and train with teams. I doubt we will sign this guy as I bet he's on good money. I suspect Roy will look for cover though.

Don't see any need to sign him and would rather see money spent in other areas but having him round the place for a few days could be a good thing. He might have a few tips for our other keepers...

you would think if he was serious about his future career he would train with a team thats actually winning games..whats the point of training with a bunch of losers managed by the biggest loser ? happy new year to all the whinging pro keaners i have enjoyed your lunatic faith all year... now i understand why religious freaks are crazy enough to blow themselves and others up ....blind dumb faith is a powerful thing and people cannot be reasoned with when under its spell .
