TWTD understands that League One Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Town striker Jason Scotland. The 32-year-old looks set to move on this summer with manager Paul Jewell having added Michael Chopra to his squad and with an offer in for another frontman.

The Trinidad and Tobago international scored 10 goals in 35 starts and 10 sub appearances last season, having signed from Wigan for £750,000 in August, but failed to convince new manager Jewell that he is the man to fire the Blues back into the Premier League and his days at Portman Road appear numbered.

Scotland, who has a year left on his Town contract, was close to returning to his former club Swansea on loan in February but the move broke down after the clubs were unable to agree a financial package.

If they firm up their interest, Wednesday may also have trouble agreeing a deal with Town with the former Dundee United and Dunfermline man likely to be on a significant wage having joined the Blues from a Premier League club.

Reading striker Noel Hunt continues to be linked, with a local Berkshire paper claiming that the Irishman, who was first mentioned in connection with the Blues on Monday, is the striker for whom Jewell has made an offer. Hunt is currently at a coaching camp in the US and has played down the reports via Twitter: "First I heard of it!"

Jewell's former Wigan striker Nathan Ellington has also been linked by one of the tabloids in the wake of TWTD Message Board claims that he was the player at Portman Road on Monday. The 29-year-old is a free agent having been released by Watford after spending the second half of the season on loan at Preston.

Meanwhile, Spurs right-back Adam Smith, who Town and a number of other Championship sides approached towards the end of the season while he was on loan at Bournemouth, says he’s yet to make up his mind about his future.

Tottenham have now offered the 20-year-old new terms with his current deal up this summer but he says he could decide to move on to play senior football: “Spurs have offered me a new contract, but I'm not sure whether I want to stay there or not because I want to be playing regular first team football and reserve football isn't going to cut it really.

"Going out on loan again is an option for me, but I've had offers from other teams about making a permanent switch, so I've got a big decision to make between now and the start of pre-season.”

Elsewhere, Blackburn’s Jason Roberts has committed himself to Rovers having dismissed reports he was to join the Blues yesterday: “I am happy at Blackburn and I am looking forward to next season already.”

Rather move Priskin on really, with the right partner I think Scotland could improve on his 10 goals from last season!

Sue Pairb, hopefully the mystical goal hippo is the one to go leaving Priskin in with a shout next year!

PS The striker Jewell has bid for is Freddy Adu!

Scotland has lost his pace now, time to drop down a level for him. Priskin has a lot offer IMO and we should keep him and bring in the next striker to pair with him, (Connor : Chopra being 1st choice pairing now)

i would rather see priskin stay and get rid of scotland, has a bit more pace better touch, just needed better service and a good partner, think scotland has way passed it for me to be fair so get rid and take leadbitter with you

I like Priskin, was much better last season than in his first year. Not a big fan of Scotland, but given the chance you fancy him to score. Would sell Scotland, and bring in one other, play two up front from Chopra, Wickham, Priskin, and one other

wouldnt be a bad 5th choice striker to have on board, but at his age i dont think he would be to happy with that, but given the choice between him and Priskin, i'd choose Tamas everytime who still on occasions looks like he could be a half decent player, where as Scotland is only gunna get larger and slower.

Personally I would stick with Priskin, I think given the right strike partner and better players around him I think he would be a good asset. You can't deny he is very silky, seems a bit like the berbertov of the championship. He will need to improve on his consistency though. It's already looking very positive. Chops, new striker, Conor, Thamas, Scots and don't forget young Murrey and Carson!

Let him go, he was a good striker at Swansea but appears to have deteriorated rapidly since, far too slow and cannot trap and control the ball, good luck to him however.

Feel Scotland and Priskin should be sold and go for a new start.
Priskin for me has had 2 seasons and been loaned out but has never really done it
Scotland is no longer the force he was, the 2 will be on big money so will free up wages.

Wickham, Chopra the new front two (at the minute) a new striker on the way, will give us 3 plus Murray and Carson can play up front so we will have 5, Priskin and Scotland will give us 7 far too many.

Phil- Scotland played for Dundee Utd & St Johnstone, not Dunfermline. Hunt played for those two though.

Priskin or Scotland?

Priskin:
Younger
Quicker
Arguably better to watch
If he sorted out his finishing would score a lot more.

Scotland:
Ageing
Not as good to watch (seemingly lazy and rather slow!)
10 goals, despite his criticism, isn't terrible?
Played in a 4-4-2 could score more goals, more of a finisher.
If he gets a chance infront of goal you fancy him to stick it away.

My heart says keep Priskin and sell Scotland (likely to be on higher wages also) but my head says Scotland will still score some goals even if it isn't 20 despite being awful to watch (in my opinion).

Can't see Wednesday being able to afford his wages unless we give him a pay off or let them have him on a season long loan where we pay pay part of his wages in order to run down his contract. A good finisher but no longer able to contribute and create chances as his legs have gone. Jewell has always liked pace and power so I can't see Scotland being in his plans.

The end.

future star - at what?
if he was any good he wouldn't be with us, second only to Martin in the "Keano got it wrong" list of wasted money

Priskin is fast becoming the new Pablo, people either love or hate him. There is no doubt he has talent, he is still young & given that he's been playing in, at best, a very ordinary team, I think he deserves another season with hopefully better players and strike partners.

Priskin has a LONG way to get to Pablo's greatness.

Whilst I understand that there is no noise from 3 stands in our ground I am surprised to see how many people are moaning about priskin. Were there not loud boos this season when he was taken off ? That was during the one time of his town career he had a small run in the team. Priskin is young and at no point have we given him a chance. Yes he has missed a few sitters but that is when he was low on confidence and rusty. Give him a run with chops & wickham & then write him off!

only comparison with the later days of pablo is that neither could score on a regular basis

It's funny that in the infamous 3-0 snow ravaged game against Leicester, Scotland look good, with good balance, technique and power.
In most other games, he looked like he was wearing tap dancing shoes and playing on ice, when the pitches were like snooker tables!
A shame because I was really pleased when he signed. I think it was a case of Keane being so blinkered that he had managed to agree a fee for a player and agree terms, that he didn't notice that Scotland wasn't in particularly good shape any more.

Scotland is awful to watch- but he is probably the best finisher we have at the club (with Chopra here though- I think this is no longer the case). Scotland could be used as a super-sub- but fear he won't be too happy in this role anyway and will want away.
Might be worth hanging on to him and making our mind up in December. I remember Swansea fans lambasting the guy in his first season with them but in his second season he was outstanding. With the new forwards arriving it will create competitions for places and Scotland might get leaner and meaner as a result.
He did get 10 goals last season and is probably worth sticking with for the time being (the rumour is 150,000 from Sheffield Wed anyway which would be a bargain for them..).
We should keep Priskin for the time being too....
