Scotland Again Linked With Swansea Return
Scotland Again Linked With Swansea Return
Tuesday, 12th Jul 2011 11:54

Town striker Jason Scotland is again being linked with a return to his former club Swansea. The now-Premier League side made an attempt to sign the 32-year-old on loan in February but the clubs were unable to agree a deal, however, new talks are now said to be under way, presumably regarding a permanent switch.

After February’s proposed move broke down, Swansea took fellow Blue Tamás Priskin on loan for the remainder of the season, a deal which eventually led to the recently resolved spat between the clubs regarding the Swans’ failure to pay Town £300,000 in wages and a bonus relating to the Welsh side’s promotion.

Scotland, who appears to be surplus to requirements at Portman Road since the signings of Michael Chopra and Nathan Ellington, enjoyed a highly successful spell with the Swans between 2007 and 2009, scoring 53 goals in 91 starts and 14 sub appearances.

Brighton and Sheffield Wednesday were previously linked with the Trinidad and Tobago international, although the Owls appear confused about their interest with owner Milan Mandaric confirming it but manager Gary Megson dismissing the claims. Rumours over the last couple of days have linked Barnsley.

A Premier League player with Wigan prior to his £750,000 switch to the Blues last summer, Scotland has just this season remaining on his contract at Portman Road having netted 10 times during 2010/11.

Meanwhile, the Watford media report that the Hornets are yet to receive an offer for striker Marvin Sordell for whom a national newspaper claimed Town are set to make an £800,000 bid this morning.

Why on earth would the Swans want him in the premiership?
Good luck to them both if this comes off..i'll be chuffed to bits if we can offload him and get some cash in the deal too.

Think Priskin may actually do a decent job in the Premiership, so sign him instead. Scotland in the Premiership? Just ask Wigan

I'll believe this when it happens. I only wish it were true.

on another note, if we are not going in for someone like Sordell i hear Hull are looking at Nile Ranger - i was impressed with him in the championship with Newcastle when he was just coming through. He would be decent i think.

I've ordered him a one way ticket by National Express Coach to Swansea. I'm happy to pay the fare.

Ps Ranger has some serious attitude issues.

Umm if we sell Scotland, how about Obafari Martins as a replacement. He has everything were looking for. Can play as a winger or attacker, has pace and can score goals. Plus Jewell does have a knack of sighing big name players. COYB

How about 2.5m for scotland and priskin? We know you've got the
money

Jewell said that he is waiting to hear on a bid for a striker, so if its not Sorrell who could it be?

Jewell was looking for a striker before the sale of Wickham, so if Scotland does go is Jewell looking for 2 strikers, still need a CB and another midfielder

Maybe Paul Jewell went back with an increased offer for Billy Sharp and james Coppinger ?

I'd love it if this were true BUT why on earth would a Premier League club buy a 32-year-old player who wasn't a success at Championship level, and previously scored only 1 in 32 at Premier League level?! I thought a drop down to a smaller Championship club or a bigger League One club would be more realistic.

SkySports.com claim they are in talks.

Martins isn't still at Brum is he? I thought he was on loan from somewhere. That guy is a class act and would undoubtedly be the best signing in a good few years. However, sadly it won't happen.

keep Scotland, don't buy Sordell.
Scotland will poach a few a season, Sordell will never set the division alight and with 800k price tag? joke

haha Obafemi Martins is one of the most unrealistic targets i've heard yet. he plays for Rubin Kazan who are a top Russian team playing European football.

Casanova it doesn't seem you know much about Sordell with that comment. But appears to be no bid for him so irrelevant anyway.

Nile Ranger is a No No!! Massive attitude problems, anyone that poses for pictures with a gun, firearm, knife etc.. Should be given a lengthy ban!

I still think scotland has got a lot more to show. RK and PJ BOTH played him out of his favoured position as a lone striker, but then WE moan when he doesnt deliver.

I think he would work well alongside someone with pace.

Yes, I will personally buy Mr. Scotland's one-way train ticket back to Swansea! although this is probably not even true when you thing they are now in the Premiership...

If he is sold make sure we get the money up front and in cash!

Give scotland a chance he played by himself & had no help so ellington & chopra Scotland/Priskin & Haven't Bought Yet. So priskin or scotland will go & new striker in. So we wait & see who will go.

jclark20 i think u will find he played upfront on his own for swansea and thats were he was best also we dont need a target man jewell doesent play like keane.jewells teams actually pass and have creativity i think we saw that when he first came incharge.
