Bullard Suspended By Hull - Reports
Bullard Suspended By Hull - Reports
Wednesday, 20th Jul 2011 23:58

Former Town loanee Jimmy Bullard has been suspended for two weeks by Hull City, according to reports in East Yorkshire. The midfielder was left out of the Tigers side which won 2-1 at Winterton Rangers this evening.

After the game, amid rumours that last season’s Town Player of the Year had been suspended for a fortnight, manager Nigel Pearson said only: "I've got no comment to make."

The Hull local press is reporting that the suspension is due to an incident which took place on the club's pre-season trip to Slovenia. The club are expected to make a statement this morning.

When asked about the £45,000-a-week midfielder’s future earlier on Tuesday, Pearson said merely: “There's nothing to add at this point. This conversation is going nowhere so we'll leave it at that."

The one-time England call-up, who has two years left on his contract which makes up 21% of Hull's wage bill, has been linked with a switch to QPR in recent weeks, while the Blues may well be monitoring his situation despite manager Paul Jewell previously ruling them out due to the financial aspects of the move.

Well it sounds bizarre but if it was complete rubbish as it seemed when I first read it Pearson would surely have dismissed it.

Not sure if this will make any difference in terms of us signing him as it seems Bullard holds all the cards, if he says he will take a pay cut and we offer hull a decent fee he will come. Same situation will QPR I suppose.

Liverpool_blu: Bullard's contract with Hull is worth over £4.5m to him. In order to sign, we'd need to come close to it or match it. That's not the sort of money we should be spending on an injury prone 32 year old - regardless of how good he was last season.

He's not our player so this news doesn't matter.

Sorry Phil.

Well that's saved them £90k! Don't think either player or club are going to enjoy the next two seasons unless Bullard can move on somewhere else.

Bottom line is Hull have made a balls up
they paid £5 million and offered a £9 million contract for him and it has come back to bite them in the bottom

If town offered Jimmy 45k a week and 2 to 3 year contract he would come and Hull would let him go for free

best we could offer would be 20k to 25k so Jimmy will want a pay off from Hull I would say of any where between 1 to 2 million so Hull will want a fee for him

or Jimmy can sit on the bench at Hull and get 4.5 million over the next 2 years

he did great for us last year but not worth breaking the bank just to get him.
He is out of our reach
best we can hope for is Hull will let him out on loan on the same as last year but can't see that happening toll the transfer window is about to shut

Yes Please. Jimmy Bullard is a legend. Problem is how long will he be good for? Maybe 2 more seasons. That's why we should wait and try get him for the least amount possible then spend some cash on other players. We desperately need some new defenders. Quality defenders at that

Trust me he will not kick another ball for Hull, There has to be a payment triggered if he does i mean we all had a look at what he could do in a game are you telling me if you were the Hull manager you wouldn't play him ? When Hull were doing ok last season he could have pushed them on to the playoff's, This is just a way that Hull can look good to their fans when they let the troublesome Bullard go on a free and giving him a payoff.

Good point felixblue. I hope this is the case!

One way to save Hull 90k! I agree with felix that he was never going to play for Hull again as it triggers a payment to Fulham.

Wonder if Hull will now use this as a starting point to crank it all up to eventually cancel his contract? Jimmy has to be a good boy and not say anything if he wants to keep his £45k a week deal in place. I wonder also if anything will develop from this.......

Hardly putting him in the shop window, surely suspending for unprofessional behaviour will put other clubs off, which will improve our chances of signing him!

if bullard wants to play first team football anywhere, he is going to have to take a massive pay cut, we all know the answer to that. We cannot break the bank for this guy.HE is not the only creative midfielder in the world, there must be a player out there, even outside of europe who would come for a fraction of what bullard costs.
Come on guys lets move on from this now, please.... COYB

Thats one way Jimmy for a securing a move away from Hull. Hull missed a trick here, they could have banned him for 4 weeks and saved £180,000!

bedsitfc added 08:03 - Jul 21
if this is true do we really need that sort of thing in our squad yes he was very good for us last season in a very poor town side. its a lot of money for one player i would be happy only with a loan with an early termination clause.

That's the trouble with not having an agent, you have to be here there and everywhere doing your own negotiations.

He will sign for QPR within the week.

Depending on the nature of his contract and the degree of his misdemeanour, Hull might still have to pay him during suspension
