Collins Could Sign Permanently
Collins Could Sign Permanently

Town boss Paul Jewell says he will be interested in making new loanee Danny Collins a permanent addition to his squad if he continues to play as he did at Blackpool on Saturday. The Stoke defender signed on a 93-day loan on Friday and is with the Blues until after the Barnsley game on Saturday 10th December.

Jewell said: “We’re looking at it as a loan to start with and if he does as well as he did at Blackpool, we’re certainly interested.”

The Blues manager has been chasing the 31-year-old for some weeks but says the deal eventually came together rapidly, not even giving the Welsh international time to train with his new team-mates prior to Saturday’s match: “We’ve been trying for a while but it happened very quickly. He couldn’t even train with us on Friday.

“We had him at the football club but because of paperwork, bureaucracy, red tape, we didn’t get clearance until 4pm on Friday afternoon. I think that shows how well he did, having not even trained with the team.”

Collins's Stoke contract, reportedly worth £25,000-a-week, runs until the end of the season.

VERY good in the air and a good debut (I know we lost 2 goals but he played well). Good for us if he permanently signs.

Good player, however the amount of old players we are getting is a bit of a joke. If we dont go up in two years we will have to build another new side.

Anyone know if TWTD have done a league on "fantasy.premierleague.com" this year?? If so, what is the code? Or anyone got a code for Ipswich Town fans?

PYBlue because actually he does have pace! 31 for a CB is hardly over the hill!

I'm 31 and still faster than anyone I play with (although admit i'm slowing down a bit)

Don't see the issue with age, if you've got it, you've got it.

You'd have got moaners if we'd signed Paolo Maldini at 31 <rolleyes>

yes but a team of 30+'s creates a problem for the future!

Loans will get us relegated. Permanent deals should have been sorted and agreed, along with formations during pre-season. I knew PJ was a poor manager, but little did I realise he was as bad as this. 8 defeats in 11 and people still think he's good. Deluded.

Blimey blueherts....Life is hard enough for Town right now without fielding only 10 players!

Jas you really do like a good moan don't you that's all you ever do even if win you still moan and you even moan at something that has nothing to moan about.

The problem with are current problems are team selections currently when all fit why not choose this side below

Stockdale
Edwards (Who else is there) Sonko collins Creswell

Carson Andrews bullard Martin (Would pefer better if honest)

Chorpa murphy

A team like this would be doing so much better i just believe alot of our problems exist wit the current team selections why not play a side like this when everyone is fit.

Finally jas i not saying everything is all roseing but i just believe if we had a team like i shown above we wouldn't have as much as the problems we have now imo.

Spanish_archer - Good spot .. I think that is 'such a great X we dont need another !!
Actually Kennedy as Captain behind Creswell on Left mid
Get some young lads out on the flanks and I think at least we will have something diff to our game .

Looks a very good player, very impressive on Saturday. Shame we have some of the fans we do, for example one post the other day suggested we send Collins back and put Delaney back in. And of course jas the moan merchant.

jas0999 you are the most boring, repetitive poster on this entire site. Have you got no other points to make apart from going on about loans that are probably going to be made into permanent deals IF they do well???

Jas099 as always negative and a ridiculous stat . Jewells record as Ipswich manager pl 31 13 wins 4 draws 14 defeats win percentage 41.94 up their with Sir Bobby ,Ramsey, Burley way above your hero Keane who has the lowest win percentage of any recent manager unsuprisingly .
And stop moaning about loan players Stockdale ,Andrews and Collins all look excellent players who will benefit any side in this division so whats the issue ?
The reason we are struggling is that Jewell for some unknown reason is still showing faith in Edwards and Leadbitter

This team as with any other (just look at current personnel changes at Man Utd) is a work in progress. Look at the names of the 'ideal' starting ITFC 11 that many of you are posting. If you look at how many of those players have started anything but a handful of games in an ITFC shirt you must recognise that experienced players or not that it will take time for them to gel as a team under PJ, or any other manager. Do you really expect to go up this year? Would you want to? Surely progress this year and a realistic expectation is for progress throughout the season and a solid top 10 finish with a view to top 6 next season!

Goods news, as an experienced left-sided centre back with pace is just what we need. With him, Delaney, Ingimarsson and Sonko (plus Smith) we are now well covered at centre back.

Loan players are a bad idea if you have too many meaning they don't care about the club. Stockdale is the only one that could fit that category, and he is desparate to play well to keep in the England squad! Andrews, Collins and Murphy are all here with a view to permanent deals so will be working hard to win contracts. What is the problem?
