Full-back Carlos Edwards says the Town squad need to gain greater belief in themselves. The Trinidad and Tobago international says manager Paul Jewell has brought in good players, now it’s down to them to go out and get results.

Edwards said: “We just need to believe in ourselves. The manager and the supporters believe, so it is totally down to the players and how much we believe we can do it.

“That is the biggest downfall at the moment. We have the players and the capability to beat anyone in this league. We just don’t believe that we can go from strength to strength.”

He added: “I am always confident in whatever game I play in. I’m not saying I don’t have a bad game and everyone is entitled to an off game. But at some stage we tend to carry a few too many people and in this league you can’t.

“The manager is doing his job trying to get the formation and the right players in, which I think he has already. But it is totally down to us now to go on the pitch and get the results.”

Edwards is right that ultimately it does cone down to the players. Despite our manager's limitations and failure to organise and settle on a system. Edwards has come out with what are all too familiar soundbytes before. And now again. Our "experienced" squad and their manager need to put up or shut up and do their talking on the pitch. Here's hoping for an improved performance on Monday.

Point being one of the players has not got confidence maybe next week 3 of them will have it and after that 6 might have. It's a slow but progressive system and atleast were getting confidence with out tw*ts like you trying to shread it to bits. Clearly none of you have played for teams and dunno what its like to lose confidence and how hard it is to belive that you can still play well. Don't have anything positive to say about one of our players, Piss Off !!

Magic and Keane both made the mistake of playing players out of postion which we all know never works! for ITFC anyway

Mark added 12:35 - Sep 16 Edwards has done much better than I thought he would at right-back, but I would prefer a new defender to come in so that Edwards could play right-wing. He hasn't always been great in midfield however, and 5 goals in 79 games if not a brilliant return. For £1.4M (an awful not for a player of his age!) plus a big wage he hasn't proved value for money. Apparently his name is Akenhaton Carlos Edwards.
