Town Trial for Young Striker
Town Trial for Young Striker
Wednesday, 16th Nov 2011 12:00

Town are reported to have taken Kirkley & Pakefield striker Ryan Crisp on trial. The 18-year-old scored four goals for the Ridgeons League Premier Division side in a 5-2 victory over Hadleigh United on Saturday.

Crisp, who could be involved with the Blues’ U18s in the weeks to come, spent time with Norwich City while at school before breaking into the Royals’ first team as a 16-year-old.

His current manager Paul Tong is a big fan: “The lad has everything - ability, pace and strength.

“He has been outstanding for me and he was on fire on Saturday.”

The youngster has scored 11 goals in 13 league starts and one sub appearance this season, including a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Wivenhoe Town in September.

Might be a Jewell's Gem, who knows. Lets see if he gets through the trial first.

Don't get your hopes up, he's definitely not a Jewell's gem. He's not even that good at Ridgeons level.

The last two items on your list actually go hand in hand I would suggest !

There's one or two people on this board who will be able to give us an informed opinion on the lad, I eagerly await, as i've not been to watch K&P play for some time.

Good ask Pazelle: Do you know anything about Ollie Mann, Phil TWTD?

Agree scowie pj screwed up with lavery badly and is throwing in an untried and unproven replacement if he had been any good Norwich wouldnt have let him go.Still it's not the boys fault and it is up to him to make the most of his chance if you can call it a chance its not like theres any progression from the U18s so it will be a short contract

Just had an e-mail

"Post this for me as I cant find my Log in on TWTD

Having been fortunate to have watched Ryan for the last 2/3 years , he is without doubt on his day more than a handful for any team within the Ridgeons league, despite only turning 18 within the last month.

Anybody that has watched him this season would agree that he has really come of age this season, and is starting to fulfil his undoubted talent.

I have noticed that a few people have been slating his attitude, but for me his attitude is that of a winner and a player that is hungry to score goals, something he clearly can do.

He has a long way to go to be the finished product, but the attributes he has gives him a good chance of making a go of it"

I don't mean to be a party pooper but 11 goals in 13 games at that level really isn't exceptional. I'm not saying he can't make it but i agree with the point others have made, Ronan Murray would score plenty at that level, it's a poor standard of football.

Give him a trial, you never know...

The Walkers stadium is where he'll end up :)

He's a brilliant striker don't get me wrong.
Brilliant Central midfielder too, when he's on form you'll know about it.

I know the lad well, and there is no doubting his talent.

Give the boy a chance before everyone hammers him for his attitude, I cannot see him having any kind of attitude under the guidence of the academy coaches.

Given the chance he will score goals.

Agree with others, what about Ollie Mann give him a go before some other club snap him up, have seen him several times and he will make the grade at Pro level.

Cannot believe this has created so much discussion. Some of the boys already at the club maybe would be deserving of more exposure and encouragment but people on here always slap them down as not being good enough. Unbelieveable.

Paul Tong (his current Manager) is a good judge of a player, he was Bill Puntons second in command when Diss Town won at Wembley. Good that we are having a look at young 'local' talent, let's hope he does well!

The scouting team didn't travel very far. Are they on foot?

The report says he's on trial, if his attitude is suspect this will be found out, if he's crap the trial should show this, why do people make derogatory comments about an 18 year old who is trying to make it as a footballer, the only thing they show is their ignorance, grow up

According to the Ridgeons site he's scored 11 in 15 games, 7 in two games against teams in the bottom half of the table.
Ollie Mann has score 18 in 15 games admittedly a few from penalties. The league's leading scorer he's fast, strong, good with both feet and never gives any lip to refs.
