Bought son a car (cash), nothing special just an old Fiesta for 1500. Its mechanically fine and a few bumps and scratches. however over night it chucked it down and the inside is flooded. I've traced the fault to the windscreen. I want my money back, what chances?

If you really wanted money back, a small claims court would award in your favour. He'd soon back down if he knew that was where this was heading

My son had an expensive problem with a truck albeit a couple of days out of warranty. It was purchased from a dealer. The repairers found an obvious previous bodge which had been done by the previous owner backed up by a fictitious garage receipt.
Because of the warranty the dealer refused to take any responsibility initially until I threatened Trading Standards. I took a friend to the meeting to take notes, which were copied and handed to the dealer after the meeting. The dealer agreed to settle the repair bill which was £3k.

I work for the largest car dealers in Britain, personally I wouldn't buy a kit kat from them. My advice is if you're only spending £1500 go to an auction where you will pay around £800 for same car and if anything is wrong with it you've got £700 to put it right. Our company get 90% of their used cars from auction anyway. On top of this, a warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. | | | |
